Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

Is that so ?:hmmm:

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

They are all indo aryan languages. Pashto and balochi are different, they are near Persian I believe.

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

I find it difficult to comprehend punjabi …let alone other languages :hinna:

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

Being a punjabi I can comprehend seraiki, potohari, pahaRi etc. Sindhi is a bit different but I know if I try hard I can understand 30-40 % (although I have never learnt the language nor heard anyone speak it). Muqawwee being a Sindhi would be able to understand all of these languages I guess.

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

I can make some heads and tails of Pakistani Punjabi sometimes, but then that could be chowdhri shujaat speaking Urdu so I can't really say. Suffice to say that I can't really speak Punjabi, though it shouldn't be hard when my dad could pick it up as well. Seraiki / potohari is close to Punjabi so of course you would understand it. It is like I can make some sense of what they say in hindi (the very pure one that they promote on indian tv) but I couldn't get the meaning of some words their either until they explained jiyoti in a cricket panel about the recent indopak cricket series.

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

I can understand Sindhi, Punjabi, Saraiki, Hindko due to the reason that our elders speak pure and theth Sindhi and we have Punjabi, Saraiki speaking family friends .

:hehe: haan tht video went viral some yrs bk

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

This happens to us people who live abroad, we speak mother tongue at home but when we go to Pak ,people don’t want us to speak our language, they like to listen our English. :hehe: Dhobi ka kutta

And people feel so much proud of speaking few words of English language while they speak Urdu. They don’t regret of what they are doing, they might regret some day when their kids will speak English living in Pakistan and they will study URDU at schools.

I know what you know :hehe: All above languages!

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

So jealous of you guys who know Seraiki, Hindko, Potwari. I’m trying to learn and make resources to help others learn these languages, but I can’t find a single person to learn from. Talk about frustrating :smack:

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

i know English, Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Bhojpuri and working knowledge of Arabic and several other Indian regional languages.

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

which language is Bhojpuri?

Re: Knowing Multiple Languages!

similar to eastern UP and Bihari. most Bollywood movies [especially Amitabh (like in Adalat and BaGhban)] uses this language. Amitabh is from Allahabad and so am i...we speak the same language [or dialect].
