Anyone else have the inexplicable urge to buy this even though you already have a GPS? The only thing keeping me from buying it is that prolly desi names aren’t in the database of the 300 or so names that the device can use.
Dunno. I think, GPS technology has moved beyond just directions via screen/voice. Personally, I think anyone considering a GPS should get one which incorporates traffic data (not the paid XM necessarily, but Clear Channel has free traffic data via radio). Also, GPS should also double up as a blue-tooth speakerphone, if your car doesn't have that already. This thing is so convinient.
Some high end GPS provide lane-assistance which is invaluable, especially in complicated down-town and free-way situations. Also, 3D rendering of location greatly helps in identifying destination etc.
The other stuff from MSN Direct is probably too gimmicky and I am not sure if it is really all that useful.
^ I used the MSN direct traffic, weather, movie, and gas prices service for one year, I think Im gonna renew it, but the only catch is whether I should pay $50 for one year, or $150 for lifetime... Having a hard time making this decision because Im not sure whether Ill be using this GPS by next year or not, and the subscription to msn direct is non transferrable.
^ hahaha... and it's customized for Toronto too! (except for the Palm trees) - some ppl have too much time on their hands.
Faisal - dude, I doubt that people who're buying the KR GPS are too concerned with functionality at this point - it's got dork appeal. I'm sure if we look at functionality, then one would wonder why you can't have voice prompts - afterall, you should be able to talk to KITT.
