I think its because, "Authority" is a way that works here in our society. Since things are not democratic so people either rule people or get ruled by people.
If they have power they consider it a certificate to stamp there authority, and if they lack power they never raise voice against those, who is ruling them.

the powerful are sometimes also the ones who are most miserable, most wicked and most foolish!
the humble..i think they have got it straight, thy know the secret of life.....they are happier, they know the key to happiness is not about controlling others, but rather about controlling yourself!!
humbless is a precious charcteristic and much like other things that are precious it is hard to come by in person!
So we are fools when we think that happiness in this world is about power! infact its about control over yourself nver about control over others!
b/c only when u can control your own self, your desires...can u truly find happiness. happiness can not come from others....so this notion that if we are powerful we are happy that power is a good thing...it flawed, and we as human so many of us are fools for buying into it.
Not to mention, "hubris" is never a good thing, those that are arrogant will always fall! look at Shaitan...or greek mythology, or any mythology...those that are arrogant will always fall! our human histroy, our ancestors teach us that!!
on the flip side look at jesus...look at such characters who were humble..there is a reason why this is considered a good trait humbleness..b/c ultimately it pays!
so no i dont believe in power, i think those that think they are gods....are fools! and most likey will realy not be very successful in this world
any nation that rises ..it does so not b/c it is arrogant, but b/c it is humane, when any nation or person becomes arrogant they fall! look at chinese histoty, euro history or even our own muslim history!!! you will find examples there..... being good, humane, considerate of others and having control over yourself are the keys to success and happiness... like i said earlier in another post...nizam-e-khalq! God is just after all, and nature is not as random as we think....

hmm Words, and Farwah, i think, both of your POVs are correct to some extent.
the issue to me that stands out is this that sometimes, it is not the riches or the beauty on either one's end, but the exploitative use in a menacing manner by both, i feel that is the bone of contention. so, we see Gods of money & of self-centered deceptive worshiping or idolizing of oneself & when others do not easily fall prey to that mentality, then bad people try to manipulate the good people.
is it too simple a concept of the whole situation?
