Kitchen work surface

So I don’t have the nicest countertops in my kitchen, and I want to bake biscuits that require me to roll out dough. I thought I’d get something like the giant mat that Titli Nihaan uses in most of her videos (the one with potted plants on it as shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqjOuRlnacs#t=37 at 0:30), but I can’t find anything similar in Canada. To be honest, I’m not even sure what to call it, therefore not sure what to search for. Anyway, should I just roll out the dough on my kitchen table? And how should I protect the surface of the table?

I’m sure there is a very obvious solution to this, but I’m having a hard time thinking of one. Help please!

Get a large size wooden cutting board. Use the grooved side for cutting, and noon grooved side for rolling the dough

Re: Kitchen work surface

Get a silicone rolling mat.I have one and I use that om top of my counters for rolling out stuff. It works great and clean up is easy too.Something like this

CHEFS 24x16" Silicone Pastry Mat : Target

Google ‘silicone rolling mats’ and you will be able to know where to find them where you live.

Re: Kitchen work surface

Awesome ideas, thanks all! Also, just in case anyone else is wondering about the same thing, I found glass cutting boards (like this one Amazon.com: Joseph Joseph THST012AS Thin Stripes Worktop Saver, 12 x 16 inches: Cutting Boards: Home & Kitchen) that could also be used for the same purpose. I think I will either get one of these or a silicone baking mat from Ikea.
