Kitchen Must Haves

What are your favourite kitchen appliances and accessories?

I need ideas..

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Food processor (in a whole chopper, blender and juicer), Electric Kettle, Microwave, Stand mixer, Knife block, Rice cooker (may be), deep fryer (depends), Grill (if you fond of steaks and meat/veggies on sticks), Spice chopper (usually food processors lack this), Toaster, sandwich maker/press, Handy cake mixer (if required). So far can think of these only

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Food processor/chopper
Mic
Mixer
Grill of some sort
Toaster
Crock

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

For Appliances:

Food Processor
Blender (both traditional and a stick/immersion blender)
Spice Grinder
An indoor/counter top grill (I love George Foreman grills!!)
Toaster
Crock Pot/Slow Cooker
Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer (various attachments as needed)
Hand held mixer for smaller tasks

Other Kitchen gadgets I can’t do without:

Box grater that has different holes/sizes
Microplane grater/zester
Mortar and pestle

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

You use a mortar and pestle? ^ What do you use it for?

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Yup! I use it interchangeably with my spice grinder or blender.

Like if I’m out of fresh adrak lasan and I don’t have time to blend up a new batch, I’ll get a couple of cloves of garlic and a piece of ginger and pulverize it myself

I use it to smash whole peppercorns when a recipe call for fresh cracked black pepper

Some of my favorite middle eastern recipes call for making whole garlic and salt into a paste before adding it to yogurt or tahini sauces (l learned this trick and tip from my Jordanian friend)

I’ve made guacamole in a stone mortar and pestle before!

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Which brands and models should I go for?

They need to be fairly easy to use as I’m not a very experienced cook.. and look nice in my kitchen.. Trying to stick to black and a bit of white

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Good knives.
Wok
Mortar n’ Pistol
blender/processor
tava

That’s all I need. But what I really want is that thing that you just twist and the black pepper comes out. That’d be pretty boss

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Where are you located Deeba?

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Food Processor/Blender kenwood or Braun are best in the market. Black & Decker is another reliable name however I have kenwood and cant ask for better than that
Stick Mixer also I have kenwood but I think Braun one is more good as It has ice crusher too and I like Ice crusher to make smoothies or slush
Spice Grinder I have breville one, you can see for Kenwood and even I have seen Tefal has nice little chopper cum grinder
Electric Kettle They all tend to be same so you can select
Stand Mixer Again I have kenwood but Kitchen aid one is a real reliable brand too, I selected Kenwood coz it was way cheaper than KitchenAid here in Australia. Kitchen AId is around 700AUD and Kenwood was 250, however its more a patisserie and that what I required but you can go for KitchenAid if you really use the stand mixer for many things. Im using for cakes and dough kneading only. In kenwood there in another one here which is around 430 AUD and it has mincer attachment too, I would have gone for it if i knew before :(. WHen starting on your own you do mistakes but Alhumdulillah still I have good machinery.
You first analyze ur needs and ur use and then make wise decision.

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

i am looking to buy a juicer and a sandwich maker, which brand do you suggest ( affordability, durability and ease of use in mind)
I am located in PAkistan. Also do you guys suggest i get a separate citrus juicer ?

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Most of my appliances are all Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart. They are the more pricier/top of the line, but IMO well with it because they last forever!!!

Hamilton Beach and Black & Decker are also good buys

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

That’s the only way to do it!!! Only fresh cracked black pepper allowed in my kitchen!!!

Re: Kitchen Must Haves

Pakistan has Black & decker brand there and its a good one. I dont exactly remember which one I had but there are Haeir ones also. However go for black n decker or tefal. Nowadays juicers do also have citrus press with them. My ami gave me Moulinex food processsor set and its available in pakistan, I can tell you stores in Lahore. Moulinex may be bit expensive but very reliable. Alternatively go for Black n decker, i had its blender and thats way too good. I did not bring here in Australia as the sockets are different but im seriously thinking to get them here. Kenwood & Braun however are my favourite. If you find Braun seriously nothing like that
