Would dark counter tops go well with dark hardwood floors and dark cabinets?
Re: kitchen design ideas
I think not Lusi .. got for a mixed one you know the granite type worktops where you have mixed colors light and dark .. that would go well .. I have a dark kitchen and initially when I thought of going for a dark work top , it looked terrible, just didnt stand out and everything looked too dark .
So I went for a worktop that has bits of brown and cream in it. It really helped my kitchen cabinets which are brown and black .
Depends on shades, material type, matte vs reflective etc. Seen homes with black quartz counter tops, espresso cabinets and dark maple floors and they look great, but it was a large modern design kitchen with plenty of lighting and stainless appliances, vent hood, etc
Re: kitchen design ideas
yeah…it really depends on the size and layout of kitchen… I like dark but if it’s a galley kitchen then that’s just not going to work.
often times we ignore the huge impact that lighting makes on any design. keep that in mind…things like under-counter lighting could make or break your dark work top.
also consider the back splash…what colour is going to carry from your work top to the upper cabinets? how will that colour brighten or darken the whole look?
