depends on your liking.
I keep aloo piyaaz in a cabinet. I do my grocery shopping every weekend so I do nto keep a lot and they do not rot or anything in the cabinet. I got wire baskets that stack on top of one another for this purpose.
If you are the artist kind or can draw, you can paint the white tiles . or as I said earlier you can buy decals, I love them but since I am renting I cannot put decals or paint the backsplash.
I like the idea of open kitchen as I like to see what my kids are doing but if it works for you you can put curtain or if you like wooden screens.
