Well, I’m in the same situation but it’s a million dollar question and I would like to know the answer too. I don’t think it’s easy unless we stop buying new appliances and pots and pans that take up A LOT of space because of their unique shapes. One thing I do to keep my kitchen less crowded is by storing some appliances and other things that I don’t use daily in an extra closet in our home. If you don’t have extra closet(s) then I don’t know, maybe keep them in the attic? But away from the kitchen. I don’t use my Ice cream maker everyday, or the stand mixer and the chafing dishes that only come out when we have a gathering.
By the way, I love the modern kitchen storage ideas like having a ‘pot hanger’ or pantry door rack…these look great IMO and are very useful but ofcourse you need to invest some money:
I absolutely abhor the pot hangers. There used to be one in the house we are in now and I made sure it was removed. I think they are an eyesore. But of course I am only permitted to have this nakhra at the cost of losing cupboard space to my pots and pans.
The shelf behind the door is great if you have a pantry that you can actually walk into. I have to get one of those.
Are you serious? I am dying to get one in our new home…I’ve seen them a lot in professional chef kitchens on Food Network…I wish I had one of those kitchens. :sighs:
pot hangars are only as pretty as the pots hanging on them! ;)
the kitchen cupboard dilemma really is the million dollar question, i agree. every few months, i feel like throwing everything out and starting over. there's never enough space, things are always at the wrong end of the kitchen or at the wrong height, in my case, and/or they spill out when you open the cupboard. SO ANNOYING!
next time we move, iA, i'm gutting everything and starting fresh with proper organisation! i hope. hahaha
LOL....yeah....some pots really should not be on display but people forget this when they have a pot hanger.
I've invested quite a bit as well CA but I still don't like the idea of them hanging above my head on display. I would much rather have the feeling of lots of space above than the clutter. Plus I have some pots that have been handed down over the years and they are certainly in no condition to be looked at no matter how cared for they are.
I guess it's just a personal preference. I'm the type that doesn't even like to put stuff on top of the fridge and as few items on the counter top as possible.
The one thing that I really like about the newer kitchen designs is the deep drawers for pots. They will definitely be included in my next kitchen remodel. And the hidden, full height spice closet too. You know the one that slides out? I'll try to find a pic.
the rooms in my apt are nice and roomy alhamdulillah but the kitchen!!! ugh!
i need a bigger kitchen.
with lots of counter space-- and lots of cabinets-- and drawers -- and a gigantic pantry -- and a bigger stove -- a fridge that is bigger.
Ugh…the place I’m moving to has a much much much tinier kitchen than the one I have right now…in fact, its part of the living room
Somethin tells me ill be boiloing alot of water/lemon/cinnamon to get rid of smells :hinna:
Let me tell you…one meal (from chopping to cooking to eating) and my sink is halfway up the ceiling…
Hey, u can start a new topic if you want, but what kind of cookware do you use?
My new kitchen will be extremely tiny, so I’m more interested in having just 1-2 really good pieces rather than buying a whole new set (even though it ends up being cheaper!)
