Kitchen Boo Boo

Today, I made salmon…and it turned out horrible.

But since I had made such a stink about healthy food and how our desi food is sooo bad for our health…I had to eat it silently…:crying:

Have you ever done that? Made something that tasted like its not fit for humans?

I THOUGHT it looked fine until I took a bite…

YUCK!

am I allowed to rotfl?

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

Salmon is usually good, and preferred for people who dont like the fishy smell of fish.

What did you do?

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

Spock, FINE. You can ROTFL if you absolutely must. I know I bombed.

Sara, I love salmon. I used olive oil cooking spray in a pan and heated it up. I put some chipotle sauce in it and moved it around for a few seconds, put the salmon in the pan and cooked it. I added black pepper and some more oil spray…

It was fully cooked but SOOOO BLECH!

Oh am I scared…what will he do to me if I cook like this all the time???

:crying:

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

lol bon bon u cook the sauce in a seperate pan and fry the fish and then add the sauce:p

and next time try adding the swedish white sauce in the salmon... swedish salmon dish is to die for, i have it always when i go to IKEA Restaurant and now i learnt to cook it myself :D

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

lol .. I’ve learned to make very good pizzas at home

I used to buy those frozen pizza bases from the supermarket at first, which I did’t really like. then I googled the recipe for pizza base and the very first time when I made the dough at home I used the normal desi aata instead of plain flour (the website only said flour). I was very happy with everything, dough going double in size then making the base and all that until I saw the end result :frowning: when I cut the pizza the base was like a baked cake or a “double naan” :hehe: (a bit too much dough which raised too much). And all I could do was eat the topping.

very good first time experience

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

^ I feel better now. :) :) :)

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

IKEA has its own restorants?

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

YES! And the food is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good...

Diet gayee bhar mein!

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

^^ :hehe:

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

ooh ikea has those lingonberry something desserts...yummyyyy

hmm i need a good salmon or tilapia recipe. Normally you can never go wrong with lemon juice/salt/pepper. And saute in a few drops of olive oil or bake in oven n just brush with oil.

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

Ikea has own restaurants?? Living in sweden and havent seen it, :p they do have like a little place in the shopping center where u can buy and eat stuff but it's not a proper restaurant so to speak.

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

^^ Their Almond pastries are to die for .. they use almonds that are slightly bitter I guess .. o man does it taste good or what with a cup of hot herbal tea ..

does this mean i have to bring my own food when i come over :pcg:

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

kinda hard to screw salmon up..

i think you should get some help to start off in your cooking endeavors. a friend or relative to guide, or atleast a recipe to refer to.

Re: Kitchen Boo Boo

Sheyn…no way! I was going to make you a special dinner…apne haaton se!

queer…I feel so much better knowing its hard to screw salmon up…yet somehow I did it…lol

BonBonniere... perhaps this is a silly question, but did you remember to add salt? You mentioned sauce, oil, and black pepper. But you still needed to add salt to give the fish flavor. The chipotle sauce may have salt, but not enough to flavor the fish.

Also, instead of cooking it in the stovetop, you should bake this dish using the same recipe. Foil line a baking dish and pour olive oil on top and coat the foil, salt and pepper the fish on both side, place on the foil, add little more oil onto fish, then pour the sauce on top, cover with the foil, bake at 375 degrees for 20 mins approx (or till done). It should come out to a good dish if the sauce you are using tastes good to begin with.
