Re: Kingdom of Heaven
There is a fantastic movie made on the life of Salahuddin entitled "Salah-ed-dine" by the Algerian Director Youssef Chahine. Ridley Scott is an idiot who claimed in an interview that it was Moses and the Jews who built the pyramids of Egypt. That shows his bias.
It would be interesting to see a film made on the only real winner of the Crusades the Egyptian slave Sultan Baybars who finished the Crusaders off and destroyed their movement permanently. Sadly, the world has excised this true military genius and hero from it's memory, probably because of his origins as a slave.
That, of course, does not take away from Salahuddin Ayubi's greatness which was recognised by the descendants of the men who fought him - the mausoleum over his very simple grave was built in the late 19th century by Imperial Germany as a mark of respect to a great leader, a generous individual and a man who truly lived for his people taking nothing for himself and his descendants.
