"King" & "King"

LEXINGTON, Mass. – There is more controversy at a Lexington elementary school, where once again a parent is upset about gay themes being inserted into the curriculum.

This time, the mother of a second-grader is upset that her son’s teacher read the class a book highlighting two gay princes.

NewsCenter 5’s Gail Huff reported that some parents of students at the Estabrook Elementary School are upset that the students were read a book called “King and King,” the story of prince who is interested in the brother of the princess.

“My problem is that this issue of romantic attraction between two men is being presented to my 7-year-old as wonderful and good and the way things should be,” parent Robin Wirthlin said. “We feel like 7 years old is not appropriate to introduce homosexual themes.”

The Estabrook School is the same school that garnered attention last year after another father, David Parker, was arrested when he protested the school’s decision to have his 5-year-old son’s class read a book depicting gay families. Parker was arrested and banned from school property for refusing to leave without a promise from school officials that he would be notified in advance if similar material was going to be taught.

Although school officials said their goal in exposing the children to such topics was to be inclusive as possible, Parker’s position was not tolerated.

“We want all of our families and all of the children to feel that they’re welcome and included there, and one of the ways to do that is to show different kinds of families,” school committee member Helen Cohen said.

The school superintendent, Paul Ash, issued a statement about the latest controversy saying, “The Lexington school system cherishes diversity … we welcome children and families of all backgrounds, including families headed by same-sex parents.”

Wirthlin said she and other parents should be notified in advance when such topics will be addressed so they can remove their children from the class.

Fine arguments but

I wonder what would be the reaction if the story is about a prince is interested in his own brother :-|

*Would they be willing to accomodate those families too who engage in consensual incest ?? If they have homogenized same sex relationships in society then why left out those willing partner from a same family who choose to coupulate after mutual consent ??? *

Re: "King" & "King"

This is sick and disgusting.

Amazing how much power the gays can exercise in west.

Re: “King” & “King”

I’m not saying it’s right but Kentuckyis not governed by laws of the Church or Mosque, if you have a problem with what the school is teaching don’t send your children to such schools, find ones which cater to your religious or conservative/traditional mentalities or home tutor them, the school is not going against the law of the state in any way and is only practicing its right to teach what it deems right and proper, religion is not used as a touchstone of morality in such places so the schools opinions and the parents opinions are just personal opinions and hold the same weight, the school is free to teach what it wants and the parents are free to send their children to another school if they so please.

Re: "King" & "King"

I don't know what the law is like on incest but I'd think they'd allow it so long as both partners are not harming other beings in the process (i.e. by having handicapped and demented children together).

Western laws are based on the motto "live and let live", "each to their own" and "if it doesn't affect me I'm not bothered".

Not saying that's the right mentality but that's the way it is and if anyone has a problem with it they should move where laws are different like Iran, Saudia Arabia or Afghanistan.

then find out first, please.

just how many organisations are working for couples/ families who want to engage in consensual incest ???

Why it is such is huge taboo in this age and time when homosexual marraiges are considered normal ?

You will see that media portreys happily married same sex couples on tv shows ,sitcoms , news and entertainment. But at the same time they would consider a news report of a grown up sibling marriage as something utterly disgusting ??? why there is so much bias ?

Re: "King" & "King"

Obviously there’s more homosexuals/bisexuals compared to incestosexuals so the former are going to have more of a sway over things and there’s going to be a greater need for awareness about them therefore more organisations fighting for their rights.

Maybe with time incest will become accepted (obviously with regulations preventing them from having children as they will most likely be born with severe disorders).

I know it’s wrong but my point was western society has no set standard for morality, there motto is that if someone is minding their own business and not effecting anybody else let them be even if what they’re doing seems wrong to us, that’s what happens when there’s ladeeniyat, people loose any sense of direction.

Re: "King" & "King"

I think What they are trying to do, is to reduce the apprehension against the gay life & culture, starting right from the nursery levels...

Re: "King" & "King"

incest is already acceptable in many societies. what else do you call cousin marriages? :b

diversity is one outcome of a civil society - gays, hijabis, jews, all living in peace. yay!

Re: “King” & “King”

I dunno, how hot’s your cousin?

as an aside: hahahahahahahahahhaa King and King ..hahahaha …interested in brother :rotfl:

Re: “King” & “King”

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

Re: “King” & “King”

Incest as in brother/sister, daughter/father, mother/son?

And if these practices are practiced then what ****ed up society that must be…Literally…

Cousins is a different matter altogether and does not fall under incest…

Diversity is fine and dandy, but perversity is a definite nono…

Re: “King” & “King”

First of all, the article is about a school in Massachussetts.

Secondly, all homeowners pay big bucks to “schools”, then what good is their tax money if they can’t send their kids to those schools? You can’t hop to a different neighborhood because school in your area started to teach homosexuality. From your posts it looks like you are pro-democracry, so why shouldn’t those who have problem with it raise the issue and get it resolved rather than run away from problem?

Re: "King" & "King"

Oedipus was required reading at my highschool. That involved the topic of incest.

Many of you will be surprised to know the discriminating laws still in the books today.

Re: "King" & "King"

^ High school isnt the same as 2nd grade :p

Re: "King" & "King"

My problem with this whole issue ,is the way with which society is forced to accept the gay life style by certain authorities, whether being media or schools as in this case....

Re: "King" & "King"

^

Gay life sytle is a reality in free socities. Parents have a choice: they can either teach their children hate or they can tell them what it IS and what it IS NOT. Now, some body will respond with the "poo poo dirty things gay people do" argument. Well, folks guess the hell what: heterosexual couples also do "poo poo dirty things" and heterosexual parents and their children deal with it just fine.

Re: "King" & "King"

^And what about schools teaching "this" at nursery levels....Part of being a free society is also that you have a choice to restrict your kids to listen to this kind of absurdness..

Re: "King" & "King"

^

Just becasue you deem certain themes 'acceptable' doesn't mean they are not absurd. Get real.

Re: "King" & "King"

^ so marrying a goat, Quran or other "Holy" books, trees is okay with you?
