I need to get me a new bike. Do you guys know anything about the differences between the kinds of mountain bikes…Im sooo confused:konfused:
There are like a million things that are written on the tags. I have heard that gettig your self fitted at the local bike store is really important..I dont know if its worth it.Any reviews, suggestions.
Re: Kinds of Bikes?
Where are you planing to ride the bike ? On road or off road?
what is your budget?
In any which case, cheaper the bike is, heavier it would be.
Re: Kinds of Bikes?
i cant offer reviews, i can only give general ideas.
Theres three broad classes of bikes, road/racing bikes, mountain bikes and hybrids. For road use road/racing bikes are the best. They are very light, have thin tyres, and are generally no frills (no suspension for example). While they'll zip on the road, they'll do poorly off it. The posture is also often like you may have seen in racing, you'll be forced to lean forward.
Mountain bikes are heavier, have thicker and wider tyres often with gripping treads (which means more friction and grip, which means really slow but stable riding). Usually quite cheap though since they're not for everyday use (because they're so slow)
Hybrids cover everything in between. Often have thinner tyres with smoother treads, but may have mountain bikey things like suspension.
I personally prefer hybrids, because racing bikes are usually pretty expensive, and easy to break. but if speed is your thing go for a road bike!

I ride it both on and off road. I dont want to spend more then 400 dollars on it. The thing I dont get is the suspensions etc also I had a bike with the gears which I didnt understand..I dont like reading the manuals:D...And I still wont.
I just want a bike thats long lasting...wont mind being in the rain....doesnt have a life of a year or two. How simple are my needs.

I didnt know mountain bikes were slower. Hybrid sounds like the best of both worlds. I personally dont like the road bikes. Im not in for the speed so that takes care of the road /racer bikes too.

You have to admit, that is an art ![]()
I do admit its got a category of its own. That sure is a weird way of riding I mean operating a bike. I know for brakes the procedure was jumping off..I cannot remember it properly..but let me see if there is a youtube video on it:hehe:
