Holy crapoly. Who would’ve thought buying a Kindle would be so complicated.
So after many hours of thinking about what to get a friend for his birthday, I decided a Kindle would be the perfect gift. He travels and loves to read so an e-reader would be a very useful present for him.
So I go to Amazon.com and there are like a billion different Kindles! What is up with that? And how in the world do I know which one to buy? Even after reading the reviews I am super confused. Should I get the one that only has built-in Wi-fi or the one that has built-in wi-fi and 3G? Should I get the original one or the new paperwhite touch? Or the one with the keyboard? OR should I get the Kindle Fire? HOW do I decide??
And then there’s the Nook. And then there’s the iPad. But if I can’t buy myseld an iPad, I sure as hell am not buying it for anyone else!
Yes, I shall give my advice and I agree with stonecold. I think you should buy a tablet. Nexus 7 is a great tablet and is the same price as the kindle. It has wifi and not only can you download e-reader apps you can do ALOT more. Khatti also returned her kindle and is getting the Nexus 7 instead.
Although, if you must get kindle get one with 3g. I personally wouldn’t get the keyboard one as I prefer the screen to be as big as possible don’t want to waste space on the keyboard.
I have Kindle Touch . My first e-reader and so far I like it . I usually download PDF books on it and its pretty neat . No complaint . Battery life is extremely good . I think I charge it once a month and I use it for at least 1.5 hour everyday . The only thing is that it doesn't have a back light , which is kinda good , I doesn't stress out my eyes .
I have all the different tablets and phones but when I really wanna read I love my black & white Kindle. There is no distraction, the e-ink is bright and less load on the eyes and the battery just goes on and on. I recently got the paperwhite. Its small enough to fit in jacket pockets. Its very light and and and...
Thing is some people are into gadgets and can get all sorts. If you cant go out and buy every gadget a tablet is good because it will do what a e-reader does and more. Hence why I suggest for those of us who cant buy every gadget like Tofi - stick to one that does more. :)
I am leaning towards the Kindle Paperwhite. Change my mind Niks!
I'm not going to change your mind.
For enjoying your reading experience, especially while traveling, nothing better than tablet designed for reading purposes and one that has an awesome battery life. Go with the Kindle. :)
I have the Kindle app on my tablets/laptop/phone. I read a lot and unfortunately, after a while, my eyes hurt. I'd like a Kindle too.
