Kindergarten presentation on Pak

I am just SO proud of my hubby and neice…they went to my son’s kindergarten class this morning and gave a lovely presentation to the class on Pakistan. They and my son dressed in shalwaar kameez, gave a powerpoint presentation with photos on the basics of the country, brought out the Rebab. The kids AND the teacher were all just fascinated. The school principal even knew about it and just had to see the rebab.

One of the moms was talking to me before we started, she wanted to stay and listen but wasnt able to. She told me she is reading a book called “3 cups of tea”, that she has learned so much about the region from that book etc etc.

The warm welcomes and interest shown was just heartwarming.

When we got home, I ordered that book and cant wait to read it. I’ll pass it on to my son’s teacher when I’m done and see if we can get an online conversation going between new york and northern pak kindergarten kids.

What a lovely day it was!

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

so mama, did they let your hubby join the kindergarten class this year after the successful presentation or did they defer him till next year when he has grown up a bit? :D

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

Aww glad it all went well for them!

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

Hey, mamaof3, any way you could post the presentation up here on GS? I would love to see it…:hugz:

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

I have been wanting to read that book.

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

aww very nice. Yes I would also like to see it.

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

When hubby is done working, I'll ask him where the presentation is and will try to post it here. Some of it was a little beyond the kids (ie., 4 provinces and the differences between them) but most of it was really interesting to them.

That book, 3 cups of tea, I cant WAIT till it comes! It sounds like a great read and a great thing to become involved in. The author has an org called "Pennies for Education" which encourages classes like my son's to collect and send in pennies - just pennies - to help build schools in the poorest areas of pakistan. What a wonderful class project that would be!

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

That sounds wonderful! I find that the teachers usually come away from these presentations learning as much if not more than the kids. I hope your hubby plans to make it an annual event.

Three cups of tea is a fantastic book. I am adding some chapters to a syllabus next year.

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak

great to hear that..Three cups of tea is one of the most interesting books that I ever read.. at some points I had tears in my eyes and that too in plane.

Also, everytime you buy this book from Amazon.com, a huge sum of money goes to those schools in Northern areas so if you recommend reading this book, also recommend amazon.com to purchase it.

Re: Kindergarten presentation on Pak
