Last night, Did anyone see the PBS special on the killings that went on in Gujrat a few months back. It literally made me sick to my stomach that such hatred goes on in this world. All the Hindu’s of India calling Pakistan terrosist … killing - no I mean the murder, the atrocity, the despicable show of inhumane behavior. Burning people alive, raping the innocent and stabbing the helpless.
The RSS saying that there are three holy (Hindu) sites in India where Mosques now stand. They tore one down - Babri Masjid and they are after two more. As a result of the killings in Ahmdebad - 150,000 Muslims now live in refugee camps and are terrified to go back to their own homes. And I could not believe the audacity of the Hindu leaders making a parallel of this to what America has done to Afghanistan and how they kill in the name of terrorism and world peace. The BJP was in agreeance with the whole thing as the police stood by and did nothing.
I can’t believe how ungrateful these Hindu’s are. If Muslims wanted to - during the Moghul reign - they could have eradicated Hinduism off the Indian Sub-Continent but they didn’t.
I actually taped the special. I am hoping to show it to as many family members as I can.
I guess, living in America all my life - I have been isolated from all of this. While I still believe that there is good in everyone - there are those dark moments in time when humans stop being humans. they turn into the savages that once were.
I have friends that are Hindus and Jews only because we don’t live in that kind of environment. In our own countries, prespectively - we’d probably want to kill each other.
Our Imam, in Orange County had actually just came back from India after the massacre and estimated the death toll in the thousands. Unlike a few hundred as reported my many news agencies.
Just thought I get some of everyone’s thoughts on this.
What happened in Gujarat is deplorable. That said, a couple of points.
I think it was Tomasso who mentioned about telecasts of violent incidents from the subcontinent on american TV - they are bound to create xenophobia, thanks to the lack of any prior knowledge at all of the region. Widespread generalizations are easy.

Are today's hindus and muslims accountable for their counterparts 500 years ago? You are thinking exactly the way the RSS goons think. Thousands of hindu temples were razed and mosques built over them by muslim invaders (babri masjid allegedly is one of them). Hindus were taxed heavily(jaziya?) for living in their own land by rulers from outside, for centuries. Should the current day muslims apologize for all this? Should they be made to suffer for the generations of hindu enslavement at the hands of muslim kings? Should the sikhs continue and seek revenge for the brutal murder of their gurus and close relatives over generations at the hands of the mughals? I dont think so. There is no reason for hindus to feel grateful/avengeful to muslims or vice versa for things from the past. Mutual respect, anytime.
Bottomline is, if watching such items turns you into the hate-spewing generalizing kind you claim to hate, it's time to switch to cartoon network. If you are able to handle the report, and think sanely about a way to help, and not spread more hatred, hats off to you.
There are many NGOs working to heal the wounds of the society in the affected areas of gujarat. Spread the word, help your brothers live in a society that treats them as equals.
Queer is right. Having said that. I ran into couple of Real RSS supporters here in USA. It was an eye opener for me. We talk about mullha mentality some time. These guys had that mentality ten times over. Talk about extremism, emotionalism, and insecurity streak a mile long!! Lesson for me: Don't let the extreme elements define the agenda!! It is the responsibility of the "middle roaders" to speak up and nip the hate mongering in the bud. Hopefully, Indians will control RSS a little better than they have been doing. I think the outfit was banned one time. Atleast these two guys I met were certifiable nuts and hate mongerers.
queer and oldlahori, I could nto have stated it better.
these groups stick out like a sore thumb so if you dont have good knowledge, those are the groups you will look at to base your views of the entire group.
we have to make sure these groups do not dictate the agendas, and our dislike for these groups in each others camps does not keep us from communicating with he decent like minded people.
I hate Hindus, I hate the way they look, and the way they talk about Islam on there freaking India forums. They say we're weak-true-but thats just relatively short term-insha-allah. We have kicked there ass for 1000 years, they should have more sharam and shut up. I cant wait for brothers to avenge Gujrat-I have no beef with other non muslims, but Hindus make me burn. Idol worshippers. Where will ganesh be when we're burning this NEW DELHI down to the ground too.

Just curious mo_best: How do you classify yourself genetically? If you come from Pakistan like I do, there is fairly good chance that you share quite a few genes with the hindus of Inida. I think quite a few of my ancestors were hindus. So much hate? Do you think that is Islamic?
My ancestors come from Arabia-and yes I am Pakistani, but as far as I know I dont share those filthy Hindu genes. Islamic-no its not, but when have I claimed to be very religious, I just hate them-call it the hate that hate makes. Is it wise for me to love a people who hate me and my people?
first of all indians did not invade arabian countries or others countries .
mughals are invaders . so we dont owe anybody anything.
it would have been nice country beling to one religen either islam or hindu . the invasion left the country some converted some not so the
rest of the indians foundone more reason to kill each other.
look at china and japan bhudism did not cause any conlfict .

Think about it.

i am sure isarelis say the same thing about arabs.
so some hindus on their forums may be very rude about muslims, just like there are muslims who are very rude about hindus. But why become like those people. Your dislike for a particular type of person ina group should not become your hate for an entire group.
as far as genes go, intermixing was inevitable and why should anyone be ashamed of it? Allah created all humans equal.
Mo_best: I am glad to hear that most muslims in Pakistan whose ancestors were hindus are not only put down by arabs in arabia, but also by arabs and thier descendents who live amongst them. And you call yourself a muslim? Think about it! And after thinking, hopefully you can be mature enough to tender an apology to all the muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan whose ancestors were hindus.
let the indians solve the problem among themselves . how many
of you want to solve the hutu/tutsi problem which does not even
involve religen. there are so many conflicts around the world
which inovolves ethinic/religous . there is no refugees coming to pakistan
so pakistan should stop interfering.just now the afgan refugees left
pakistan. so just pary to god to keep pakistan stable prosperous.
