Ahh, well I have been wondered that people say that you will get Sawab of two rak’at prayer if you kill a lizard. It surprizes me because I have never heard or read that you get sawab by killing an animal without any purpose.
Yes ofcourse you cant eat lizard, its haram. So WHY YOU SHOULD KILL IT WITHOUT ANY REASON? If it doesnot harm you?
People say that there was a nation, humans ofcourse, who have sinned or may be rejected a prophet so Allah turned that nation into lizard.
My reaction was that, I have never read this story in Quran. And there was a Jew tribe which was punished in this way and were turned into monkeys and porks. But the died right after three days and didnot continue.
Second statement came that when Namrood was lighting the fire for Sayyedna Ibraheem :as: lizard was one of those who made the fire stronger.
I am confused about this statement. Well they dont have a single statement either. Please shed light on it.

logic says killing something that aint harming u is not right…
and u cant eat it either so why kill it???
ofcourse if u see it around the kitchen and r afraid of it getting into food or stuff, u can justify killing it…
but just killing it thinking of getting sawab is ridiculous i think…

Well people say that so many things are not narrated in Quran but are part of our religion such as how to offer prayer (namaz). We all know that our prophet had told us how to offer prayer. They match the stories of lizard bad deeds with the way of offering prayer.
But they have many stories instead of one solid one.
In a Hadith recorded by Imam al-Bukhari, the Companion Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) says:
"Then suddenly a snake sprang at us. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said:" kill the snake ". We hurried to kill it, but it escaped us. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "It escaped your evil and harm, and you escaped it's evil" (Sahih al - Bukhari, Chapter on what kinds of animals can be killed by a Muhrim in the Haram).
The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) also ordered the killing of a Crow, Kite, Scorpion, mouse, Dog, Lizard and other harmful animals. The Fuqaha mention that, it is permissible to kill animals which are harmful to ones self or ones belongings (such as pests). (See Fatawa al-Hindiyya, 5,397).
Lizard is NOT haram.. it is permissible to eat, but not encouraged, nor did our Prophet (SAW) ate it.. following are some reference from "Sahih Muslim"..
"Book 021, Hadith Number 4783.
Chapter : Pertaining to the flesh of the Lizard.
Ibn 'Umar reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was asked about the eating of (the flesh) of the lizard, whereupon he said: I am neither the eater of it nor its prohibitor."
"Book 021, Hadith Number 4787.
Chapter : Pertaining to the flesh of the Lizard.
A hadith pertaining to the eating of the lizard is transmitted from the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) on the authority of Ibn 'Umar, but in this very hadith narrated through a different chain of transmitters there is a slight variation of wording (and the words are): "A lizard was brought to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) but he neither ate that nor declared it unlawful." And in the hadith transmitted through Usama (the words are): "The man (inquirer) was standing in the mosque and Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was sitting on the pulpit."
"Book 021, Hadith Number 4788.
Chapter : Pertaining to the flesh of the Lizard.
Ibn 'Umar reported that there were some persons with Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) from among his Companions, Sa'd being one of them. There was brought to them the flesh of the lizard when a lady amongst the wives of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: It is the flesh of the lizard. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) &aid: Eat, for it is lawful, but it is not my diet."
so IMO, you dont get any 'sawab' by killing a lizard.
Both of the above incidents you mentioned, I had heard about sea-food (Crab meat perhaps) being brought to Prophet (pbuh).

Yeah, I heard the same about spiders. They say it’s a sin to kill spider bcoz when Prophet Muhammad :saw: took refuge in a cave (together with Hazrat Abu-Bakkar Saddique), while they were being chased by Kuffar-e-Makkah, the spider quickly weaved a web on the cave openning. The kuffar did not bother to look into the cave thinking, it’s covered with spider-web, so no possiblity of anyone going in this one, and they passed. So they say the spider-web saved them. May be that’s why. Wallah-alam
Spiders scare me, esp. here in this area, there’s a spider, called Black Widow-Spider. They say it’s poisnous and it kills it’s own mate, that’s why it becomes widow. I had killed a few, they are so fast and so tough, you keep beating them with the slipper, no effect. I don’t like to spray insecticides in the kitchen.

Heard that one too. In fact, people say that egg-shell be possibly full and not broken into halves. SO a friend of mine used make a small hole on one end of the egg to squeeze the eggwhite and yolk out and then wash the shell and keep it above cabinets, saying that lizards don’t come if you keep egg-shells.
OMG: About Lizzard I heard two things. One is that the lizzard made holes in the “mushkeeza” the leather bags carrying water of (sahaba I guess) during a war, and thereby deprived them of water in the deserts. May be that’s why they are not liked.
The other story I was told by my mom when I was a child. I remember I said smth about someone being ugly and she narrated this story to me at that point and I still remember it. Once Hazrat Musa :as: asked God, “Why did you make the lizzard? It’s an ugly looking thing, has no use, no benefit.” God replied, “Musa, the Lizzard has already asked the same question about you”.
A gori friend of mine spend 30 minutes chasing a lizzard in the store room. She came out all sweaty, saying, Oh God poor lizzard was trapped in the store, I struggled to get her out in bucket and finally set her free. They are so cute and adorable, I love them". I was speechless, such love for God’s creation, I wonder how much God is going to love them for that?
Well let me say that Allah has said spider’s web the most weak house. And disliked it. But it doesnot mean that you should start spider killing mission. Yes, you should clean your house.

Yes I have heard about the black spider. They are poisnous and can harm you so you can kill them but you wont get any Sawab for killing any animal I think.

Well said. See, Lord never hates his any creature. He has made all the creatures on purpose. Lizard eats mosquitoes and other tiny insects.
Well, we caught 3 rats from our house but after catching, we didnot kill them as they were trapped so we threw them on a distence.

the lizard mentioned in the ahadith is the desert lizard which is about 2 feet long and i think wud way a couple of kilos…
no one eats the normal lizard u see wlaking on the walls or ceiling at home…

I have been to Rub al khali in SA, been to Hatta sands in Dubai, Haliba sands in Abudhabi and Wahiba desert in Oman.
Unfortunately the only lizards I saw were at the biggest 5-6 inches in legth never came across these 2' long lizards. I am not saying it does not exist but haven't seen yet.
All n all this desert lizard is very popular in Bedouins and supposedly good for libido.

This lizard which the Bedouins of the desert eat is called Dhub in Arabic. It is a quite large desert lizard; it is also called a sand lizard. Large ones can easily weigh around 2 -3 kg.

Killing a lizard (or any animal) without reason is not permitted and is a sin.
Not killing a spider will not gain you any extra brownie points with God other than that whch you would get anyway for not killing any other living thing.
People please stop being desi and start being muslim.
