How to discipline kids who keep on swearing even warnings, time outs etc etc wont work?
Re: Kids swearing
What kinda environment ae they exposed to? Do their parents swear or there best friends?
What is their age?
Re: Kids swearing
They are from 3- almost 7years .. No parents dont swear, its all Danish swear words, picked up in Kindergarden/School (oh the joys)
They are going to stay with us for a week in june and I just dont think I will have the patience to deal with such words.. They use them when they dont get their way and become aggressive .. Seen it quite a lot during weekends when they visit..
I think one of them is gonna get some beating
:s
Re: Kids swearing
you can’t beat another persons child o.O
If you dont want them to swear try this method
How to Stop Kids from Swearing
Re: Kids swearing
i know a friend who put ‘red mirchay’ in her sons mouth for saying the ‘k’ word.. ![]()
i think the best way is just to talk to the child or even ignore until they get over it..
Re: Kids swearing
wouldn’t ignoring make the child think its ok?
Re: Kids swearing
Mirche sounds like a good idea LOL
Ignoring doesnt work much
Nor does calmly telling them not to use such words. After a while, they are doing it again
Re: Kids swearing
then give them time outs
punish them by taking their favorite toy for a few days (after warning them ofc)
Re: Kids swearing
I’ve seen kids who never swear or anything when their parents are around because they are so strict about it, but when parents are not around they totally change. ![]()
Re: Kids swearing
I offered a prize to my siblings if they stopped using any bad words excluding Stupid. It worked with one and didn’t work with the others ![]()
Re: Kids swearing
Do a ticket system.
Have an envelope for each child. Tell them that every time they use a bad word, a ticket goes into their envelope. The kid with the most tickets gets a serious punishment and the kid with the least gets a present. Then be consistent with your tickets.
Re: Kids swearing
I did the ticket system.....but we used quarters in jars.....each time she made the grade she got to put a quarter in and each time she didn't meet the expectation she had to give a quarter up.
At the end of the week she was allowed to empty the jar and do whatever she wanted with the money.
We did this for other things....never had to use it for language Ah.
