Kids sleep and growth

I recently read an article on how important sleep is for kids. I guess we all know that but I was not aware of a few details:

The pituitary gland secretes a protein hormone called the human growth hormone. Many factors affect it’s production such as nutrition, exercise and stress. The key factor in kids is sleep. The hormone is released mostly after the beginning of deep sleep.

Lately, my older one hasn’t been getting enough sleep due to guests at home. Too much excitement and activity, but she’ll be back on schedule soon.

Please share testimonials and further information.

I've heard that too...but as advice form mum, grandmum aunties etc. They always say that a child (esp a baby) grows while sleeping. Guess they were onto something right.

Re: Kids sleep and growth

my growth pains always happened when i was sleeping, or about to sleep. so i guess it makes sense :hmmm:

also sleep is important for the brain. the brain sorts out all teh stuff it “saw” during sleep, to make sense out of it. that’s why naps are important when you are memorizing, because sleep helps consolidate long term memory
