What are some of the recipes/lunch ideas for kids? If I make palao or biryani then it’s easy to pack that for lunch. We usually had to do that only for my son as we pay for meal plan for my daughter through the school but after moving both kids will be going to school which does not offer any lunch and only offer snacks – so now we’d have to come up with daily menu for kids lunch.
What do you guys do? If I can have some good 10-12 recipes then that would great because I don’t want to pack them same stuff every other day. Thanks.
Sky is the limit.
All kinds of sandwiches can be made from all kind of desi foods.
If your kids were taking polao and biryani , they can take sandwiches made from any kind of qeema , chicken , daal etc. These sandwiches can be made from double roti or , roti , if you have sandwich grill that makes your job even easier. You can buy a quesadilla maker and make quesadilla out of anything and everything , kids will love those quesedillas even if they are made out of bhuni hui daal and chutney.
A little bit of anything and loads of cheeze will make great quesedillas and your kids will love you for that.
That is one great idea! As it turns out I have a quesdilla maker at home laying around collecting dust. I bought it years ago to make qeema/aaloo bhujia sandwiches but had totally forgotten about it. Time to get it out and clean it up.
sandwich makers are great too- we always have qeema sandwiches with cheese. you can also offer other things like sliced apples, cheese string, grapes etc. depending on their appetite, it doesn't have to be just the quesadilla or just the pulao, you know?

My son just gotinto preschool thus no more lunch deals…
I give him roti with omlette in a roll (he loves it and they warm it up for him)
Roti with anything really cuz he is paindu like that
Pasta with qeema
Home made shammi kebabs, tuna and potato kebabs in sandwiches or as a toastie..Etc
Veggie pancakes or fruit ones ..
And i always throw in a pack of yoghurt and 1 fruit or veggie. Unless he is having a veggie sandwich which is reakly just a buttered up toast with cut up veggie of the day like boiled beetroot, or capsicum.. Etc
Oh and u can also make home made spreads… He loves tuna and potato in yoghurt with a little white pepper and salt
Or mashed up egg mixed with butter… Chicken and shredded carrot spread…anything really
Ruke of thumb that i go by … Whatever we are having for dinner…he gets for lunch but in a way he can handle himself…so if we have aloo gosht… He gets it for lunch as broken up pcs of meat, mixed in pasta with a little salan for gravy. Sure he stinks up the place but who cares.. Danes eat worse smelling stuff
I find you being pretty creative , so I thought you could come up with some creative ideas to re-decorate my home’s internals too.
If you do not want to do so , then bestey kharab karnay key kia zarrorat hay.
Oh amd if ure kid cant make nivalas yet... And most of the stuff falls out of the nivala pinch... Make a roti...Cook it completely Than take egg pre scrambled in a bowl as you would for an omlette..add whatever u want to it...
Then you pour the egg on top of the roti and cook on low heat.... Once settled...flip and cook the other side....Since it takes a good 10 mins tojust cook this... I make it the night before and tell them to warm it up for him for lunch.
This is a makor winner in our house for brunch and midget's lunchbox!

I have a question about this: won't the roti get hard since it's already fully cooked but now you have it on hot tawa just to cook the egg?
Nopes...it wont... Try it out. U throw the roti on the pan... Do the first flip and fullu cook the underside... U flip over and throw in the egg batter...whilst turning the stove on low heat... So the other side gets cooked whilst the egg cooks on top...when its not runny anymore...u flip and just cook for a few seconds.. Just so its not raw anymore.
Dont try to load one whole egg batter on this poor roti... Its half the quantity u would ise for an omæette.
french toasts
there are tons of spreads .. even healthier ones (on toast bread)
cheese with cucumber or any salad on toast
shammi kebab sandwich .. we freeze them and use when needed.
pizza, bake a day before, next day heat it in the microwave.
thin breast chicken piece .. dipped in white flour, egg and bread crumbs, then fried in oil on both sides
pasta

It sounds so yummy I am going to make it myself for me and if kids want to have one , they can too.
the sandwich maker... its a life safer! I can stuff the sandwich with any itsy bitsy green veggie I want and the munchkin will eat it.
I put everything from desi salans to sujuk in it... its brilliant..
Roman, you can try varieties of things from left over dinners, to salami, meatloaf.. home made nuggets, fish fingers.. etc
whatever I put in there, I always try to put either lettuce or baby spinach in it too as an addition... I had been giving cheese for awhile, but ive noticed when using the sandwich maker, the cheese jus oozes out and leaves a very messy appliance... plus, sometimes, leaving it in there the whole day can make it stinky..
Another piece of advice (if not already given), make the lunches the day before and put them in the fridge.... if ur giving juice or milk on the side... or cheeze, put one item in the freezer and then place it in the morning in the lunchbox... it'll be defrosted by the time the child needs to have it... and it also keeps other things fresh :)
