Kids "islamic" projects

Need ideas for summer school.

Last year we made little prayer rugs. I bought supplies from JoAnne, fabric paint, fancy borders and stencils. We traced out designs and the kids colored them, then we put border around them and the kids got to take them home to pray on.

We also made little kaabas with carboard boxes and felt.

The older kids made tasbeehs and posters.

Any other suggestions?

Re: Kids "islamic" projects

Ramzan is coming. Maybe kids can practice a 2 hours of mini roza. They can start with sehri (snacks), do prayers, then not drink or eat for two hours, then do Iftar and magrhib.

Re: Kids "islamic" projects

At the school? Like a practice roza?

Re: Kids "islamic" projects

Yes at school, a pratcice roza with all the rituals. Sehri, iftari, taraveeh (a 2 rakat nafl in place of real taraveeh)

Very nice.

Re: Kids "islamic" projects

^u two are still together??

Re: Kids "islamic" projects

i like the practise roza.

what about a fundraising/charity project? kids should know about how giving to charity/zakat is fundemental in Islam.

i remember those jump-a-thons as a kid...maybe a surah-a-thon or quran-a-thon or namaz-a-thon. Get the kids to sign up people that would like to donate, and how much they would like to donate, and for each surah they memorize, salah they read, or ayats/saparas they read, they donor has to donate a certain amount. No amount is too small.
