Kids in the kitchen

inspired from teh thread in the food forum :cheegum:

Do your kids help out in the kitchen? If so…what kind of chores do you give them to do?

Re: Kids in the kitchen

Pick up peels and other food his clumsy pregnant mother drops on the floor. Emtpy the dishwasher ( he hands me the stuff, i put it away)... Thats all he can do for now cuz he's only 2.

Re: Kids in the kitchen

He likes to help me so I sometimes ask him to hand me some stuff like spoon or a plate or throw something in the trash.
Once he starts helping me though I cannot get things myself. I have to ask him and he has to hand it to me so the process becomes very long :)
Loves to mop the kitchen floor :) atleast for now.

Re: Kids in the kitchen

daughter does not help at all bal k she spread's more mess around ...

son, helps a lot. he sets up plates etc on table, once we are done, and if he is in mood, he take up plates from table to dishwasher and also wipe off the dinning table ......

Re: Kids in the kitchen

Before I became a man, I helped my mom make rotis.

Re: Kids in the kitchen

everything and anything.........but she's still a bit scared of the heat on the stove as she saw my arm get burned a couple of years back.

she's eight and Ah she sets and clears the table, makes salad, washes dishes, puts leftovers away and organizes the fridge.
she mixes ingredients, preps items for cooking (washing, cutting).

I don't let her chop onions yet though......she can't handle the sting.

Re: Kids in the kitchen

Let’s not forget the sesame chicken kiddo made when we were over, It was so yummy, she will be a great cook like you Muzna Inshallah :k:

my girls are still too young but once that day comes I will make sure to teach them all the hard work/love goes into preparing meals

Re: Kids in the kitchen

lol pink'd.....she loves cooking chicken because it is easier than red meat......and she is getting better at selecting flavours too.
I think I'm going to get her to start writing down the recipes in her own book so that she can have them for future reference. For now she still forgets certain things and I have to supervise....

Re: Kids in the kitchen

Muzna that's really impressive....and I think its great that everyone has their kids help out (not just the daughters but the sons too :))
