Kids and their Questions

Re: Kids and their Questions

This is kinda sad, a life-lesson story.....

My middle guy, he's a mother-hen type, always taking care of and worrying about others even at his tender age of 5. He played with the girls mostly because the boys were too rough for him. But lately, he's been growing more confidence and branching out, playing with the boys in his class. I guess he got carried away. He was throwing rocks at a chain-link fence to try to get them thru the holes. The aide told him to stop but he didnt - the other boys were egging him on and he was getting lots of attention from them so he kept on. WELL. He hit a car. Didnt break anything but it was apparently a big deal with the kids, they called the aide over and he got a speaking to. Then the kids all went to lunch. POOR LITTLE GUY. There was a police officer in the lunch room, he was there preparing for a presentation to be given in that room and my son thought he was there to arrest him for throwing rocks! THEN, when I picked him up, all the boys in the class were madly scrambling to tell me all about it. My poor son was SO close to tears. We spoke about the whole thing on the way home. I calmed him down, asked him if he learned the lesson that he needs to listen to teachers and aides, that it is not a good thing to throw rocks yadayadayada.

He was STILL so upset, he woke up at 11 pm that night, asking me if I watched the news and was he on the news for throwing rocks.

He learned his lesson - that its sometimes easier to do the wrong thing but when you KNOW its the wrong thing to do, you just DONT do it even if its hard. But my heart was SO aching for him....how I wish I could spare my boyz the pain of learning life lessons!
