Growing up I remember we were only allowed to watch tv for 1 hour after school while we ate an after school snack, after that if we werent doing home work or studying then we had to occupy ourselves in some other way, read, draw, play outside, chat to eachother but we werent allowed to watch tv play on the computer.
Back then we used to find it so annoying and we would rather have sat and watched tv all evening or played computer games.
I honestly think this has served me well as an adult for many reasons some being, I was allowed to be creative so i developed skills in cooking, painting, drawing etc and my brother is excellent at DIY and cooking too. My brothers sports skills developed from playing outside with his friends he is an various teams and does well. Both of us read alot and i do believe reading broadens the mind and develops language skills and both of us excelled at school (allhamdoulillah we both study medicine) I am eternly grateful to my parents now even though i used sit in a mood back then.
When I have kids one day iA i hope i will be able to do the same, but these days you hardly see kids playing outside and there are 5 year olds watching dramas and kids stuck to the computer alll day all night with some sort of addiction. It seems to be harder and harder to not allow kids to watch tv and play the computer.
Parents and parents to be what opinions do you have on kids and tv and what are the rules in your house about it all?
