yes, it is a Farsi word. in spite of the fact that Urdu has almost 60% of it’s vocab borrowed from Farsi zabaan, it’s also true and safe to say that NOT all the Farsi vocabulary and/or it’s variant are in Use in Urdu. so, it’s possible that you may have NOT read/heard a variant of the word in Farsi. it may very well be a ‘matrook’ lafz in that language.

i’ve been told that there is now a Farsi jadeed is spoken by the masses as opposed to the traditional zabaan. one example is this:
**** traditional Farsi: Haal-e-shumaa cheest?****
jadeed Farsi: cheh taurii?****

right?**
