Re: Khwateen Digest
Yes Umera is quite repetitive in her themes and story telling techniques. She always uses flash backs in her stories be in MZZB, La hasil, etc. I even found her Peer e Kamil an average work.
Uff, do you remember how many times she mentioned that Salaar has an I.Q. of 150+? After every few lines she goes...'150 I.Q. walay uss shakhs ne socha....150 I.Q. wala woh shakhs..." It's a pathetically written book!
And how come all her heroines are so naik parveen, while most of the heroes, especially in her earlier works are all players. And yet they end up being married to the naik parveen and articulate how proud they are that their wife is so pious blah blah.
Isn't it amazing that if any woman in these novels loses her 'virtue', be it willingly or through rape, she has to die in order to compensate for the wrong done to her. And the over all attitude is so judgmental and unforgiving. Even the readers are also always egging the writer on ke 'falaan bahut buri hai, uske saath end pe bahut bura hona chahiye..." How about teaching a little bit of forgiveness.

you know her very well. I read La Hasil before watching the serial (although, serial had already gone on air, when i read it). I found novel good. then my cousin send me few of her novels including Peer e Kamil and MZZB with lots of praise. After going through these two novels, I returned back remaining novels saying 'She is very much suggestive with her characters'.
You are also right that she doesn't forgive a woman character who went through bad times due to circumstances. Thats what she did with Zainab in Man o Salwa. I didn't read novel, but watched the drama.
Re: Khwateen Digest
Not only her heroines, but like your other post why every other heroin is naik perveen and from a middle class family, she cook A to Z all food on Eid, and how she is very scare to have an affair?
I mean as this saying goes * yeh baten novels Mai hi achi lagti hain* so yes there is not really just fantasy .

Re: Khwateen Digest
Have u read Mano-salwa?? Where a ghareeb ghar Ki larki became lollywood actress only coz she was rejected by his cousin?
If she was very religious and naik and her father never brought even 1 penny of haram in their home then how come his olaad became like this?
I lik Mano-salwa novel it was well written and a emotional novel but it has many mistakes too.

I watched drama. I think Umera's point was not that a girl can opt for show-biz just because she was rejected by his fiance. She was rejected because fiance became CSS officer and rejected her for a wealth. Thats why the girl opt for showbiz and all that to quickly become rich.
But the storyline contained some flaws, including death (suicide) of that girl in the end, when she knew that Karamdaad really loved her and his relatives were just behind his wealth.
Re: Khwateen Digest
^ novel was interested than drama,
Lik Meri zaat Zara benishan, too much fazooliyat was added in the drama,in novel they never mentioned that her Cousin like her but in drama they showed he likes her and even was jealous of her husband.

MZZB was a novelette of 30 pages... Only Babar Javed knows how it drag it in 20 episodes drama
