Does anyone know why the Ulema(Scholars) say that we shouldn’t have Khutbas in English, or in any languages other than Arabic? I’m not debating on whether we should be able to give Khutbas in other languages, but I just want to know what the explanation is, if anyone knows anything about it.
There is difference of opinion among the
Ulamah. I don't know which school of thought
you follow. Let me give the opinion of
Hanafi's. They are in the view that Khutbah
should be given in original form which is
Arabic. You can give speech before khutbah
in the local language.
There is difference of opinion among the Ullamaas of today. However, there is no such daleel or reason behind giving Khutbah in arabic only. There are only two parts in the Khutbah which should be said in arabic. The rest of the Khutbah can be said in any language of the world.
