Khutab-e-Zainab in the darbaar of Yazid

After she saw Yazid disrespecting the head of her brother (as) with a cane. She stood and said:

"God says, and He says the truth, the end of miscreants will be awful, those who belied the signs of God and mocked them. Oh Yazid, do you feel that you have made our life miserable and existence impossible? And you think that God has dishonoured us and that you have been honoured and elevated? This apparent success of yours is the result of grandeur of your might and lofty status for which you are proud…. You feel that you have conquered the whole world and your affairs are organised and that our domain is now under you control…

Wait! Wait! Let not your ignorance make you so elated for have you not heard God’s words - Let not those who disbelieve think that our giving them respite is good for themselves. We only give respite to them so that they may increase in sins and for them is a disgraceful chastisement. (3:177)

Oh you the son of freed slaves! Is this your justice that the ladies of your house remain veiled and we the Prophet’s daughters should be paraded from place to place? You have thus insulted our dignity….

Oh Yazid! Your misdeed has proved your rebellion against God…. And this action of yours comes as no surprise from a person whose ancestors chewed the liver of such saintly martyrs. The descendants of such enemies of God should naturally be the most deadly!

Oh Yazid! You are happily disrespecting the teeth of Husain even though it was the place of kissing for the Holy Prophet!

Oh Yazid! You did what you wished, but remember that you have cut your own skin, In the near future you will be taken in the presence of the Holy Prophet. On that occasion you will be burdened with the sins of the misdeed committed by you shedding the blood of his progeny and dishonouring the sanctity of his family.

Oh Yazid! It does not befit you to get inflated with joy after slaying the Prophet’s progeny and reckon not those slain in the way of God to be dead: nay! Alive they are with their Lord, being sustained, rejoicing in what God has granted them" (2:168)

Oh Yazid! Feel not elated with our defeat, for you will have to pay the penalty of it on the day when you will be rewarded for your misdeeds. God is not unjust to anyone. We trust in Him. He is our place of refuge. In Him we seek sanctity and with Him rest our hopes!

You can never reach the level of our lofty position, nor can you destroy our remembrances, nor can you wipe out the ignominy you have earned for yourself by your abominable and vile performance. Your decisions are poor and your days are numbered. Your party will disperse the day when the Announcer will announce - ‘GOD’S CURSE BE ON TYRANTS AND TRANSGRESSORS’

wonderful words behen sahiba.
was bibi zainab (r.a) the sister of Hussayn (r.a)?

The history of Karbala - the events leading to it, and the events which unfolded after the actual incident - are so tragic that, whenever I read about them, it brings the pain anew.

These were truly moving words by Zainab (SA)

Salam brother Azam,
The tradegy of Karbala is covered in a famous book called “Tradegy of Karbala”.
The best online link that summarizes the events in Karabala and Syria is:
http://www.ezsoftech.com/islamic/Muharram.html

Please check the link and let me know if I can be of any further assistance on this issue.

By the way, Karbala is in Iraq. After the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a.s), Yazid’s armymen took the daughters of Prophet (s.a.w.w) called khandan-e-rasool as captive and took them to Syria. It is in the palace of Yazid (l.a) that Bibi Zainab (s.a) gave this wonderful khutba that speaks for itself.

Shimir (l.a) was an armymen of Yazid’s army. He martyred Imam Hussein (a.s), the grandson of Prophet Mohammed (s.a.w.w) three days thirsty on the order of Yazid (l.a). Shimir later used to slap the little daughter of Imam Hussein (Sakina), whenevr the little Sakina would cry for her martyred father (Hussein), Shimir hit her with taziana (hunter) and slap her on face.

Innah lillah-hey va innaelehey rajeoon
rizan be qazaehee wa tasleeman le amreh!

Allama iqbal nay sahee kaha hay

Islam zinda hota hay hur karbala kay baad.....subhanAllah

Yeah Pathan Bhai it was on the third day when Yazids amy noticed someone walking towards them from imam hussein's camp side....

When the figure came closer they said OH THATS HUSSEIN.....someone said BUT WHAT IS HE CARRYING IN HIS HANDS>....

Omar ibn Saad (sahabi of Prophet Mohammad who was bought by yazid) said I think hussein is bringing koran wrapped in a cloth.....once imam hussein came closer and lifted the white chador, it was six month old Ali Asghar in his hands.....He said thats you think this battle is between you and me, whats this 6 month olds fault.....give him the water.....if you think this is just an excuse to get a water then you can take him and give him water yourself......

Omar ibn-e-saad said oh look hurmala.....our army men are getting their heart softened by Prophet's son.....oh hurmala hurry up and do something.....

Hurmala who was one of the best user of arrow in whole arab says he use the heaviest arrow he had to shoot at 6 month alo asghar......Ali asghar had the arrow hit on his throut........imam hussein had ali asghars blood all over his hands ......

History says imam hussein painted all the blood on his face and said in the day of qayamat he will go infront of prophet and his daughter bibi fatima as it is....

The tragedy of Karbala sure is sad.
Imam Hussain was a real Sabir person, who sacrificed his whole family for Islam

Innah lillah-hey va innaelehey rajeoon
rizan be qazaehee wa tasleeman le amreh!

The tradegy does not end in Karbala. The real tradegy begins after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a.s) when Yazid’s army takes Prophet Mohammed (s.a.w.w.)'s daughters to Syria as captives. Thos pious mastoorats (Prophet’s grand-daughters) were shown as captives when they arrived in Syria.
The khutba (speech) of Bibi Zainab (s.a) speaks the rest itself while unwrapping Yazid’s conspiracies.

This link shows all the conspiracies behind the tragedy of Karbala:

Wassalam,

No Bunda-e-Khuda i disagree.I think if you go through both prince's life, you will find Imam Hasan was more sabir and Imam Hussein (r.a.) was a true fighter and karbala indeed has left lesson for us in every aspect of life.

True that karbala gives lesson regarding every aspect of life.

Karbala has the lesson of eesaar (sacrifice) in the way of Allah where one can see Imam Hussein (a.s) even sacrificing 6 month old Ali Asghar to save Islam.

One can see Hazrat Abbas (a.s), the flagholder of Imam Hussein’s army showing his temper control by not fighting and only going to the river to get water for the three days thirsty kids.

Yes we see Imam Hussein collecting the pieces of Hazrat Qasim’s body after yazidi army’s horses ran over the kids body. Hazrat Qasim was Imam Hasan’s son who was 13 in Karbala.

And yes we see sakina not complaining though she was thirsty for three days because sakina knew that there was someone younger than her (six month old ali asghar) who was three days thirsty too.

After the brutal armymen of Yazid’s army killed Imam Hussein and even martyred 6 month old Ali Asghar, zauja-e-hur (the wife of Hur) brought some water to the destroyed camps of Imam Hussein’s remaining relatives (female members of khandan-e- rasool), then Bibi Zainab (the sister of Imam Hussein) asked Sakina to drink water. Sakina Asked: “Oh Aunt! Why are you not drinking? Why are you offering it to me?” Bibi Zainab replied:“Sakina! The one who is youngest, gets the water first”. Sakina took water in her little container and starts to walk towards maqtal(battlefield). Bib Zainab asked her Sakina where are you going? Sakina said Oh aunt! you just told me that whoever is the youngest gets the water first. I am going to the battlefield to give water to little Ali Asghar. Sakina did not realize that Ali Asghar was already dead.

Reading history I wonder why we muslims don't cry on Bibi Fatima Zehra (ra) massaeb. These wahabis call crying over these paak ppl shirk, I think all shias should get thogether will suniis and we should do majalis where we cry on all the massaebs on Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and his family.

Bibi Fatima's life was full of sorrows and Imam Hasan (ra) and Hussein (ra) were raised up to sacrifice their everything on islam. The other day I was reading a book called " life of Lady of heaven Fatima" and once i read the portion which tells about how ppl entered into Hazrat ali (ra) house and how bib fatima (ra) lost her child since she was hit on her stomach while pregnant, I had my eyes full of tears and couldnt continue on reading the book......

Prophet's only daughter, deep in sorrow of losing her father, got sympathese from prophet's ummah this way!!!!!!!!

Yes very important that we discuss that incident of shahadat of Hazrat Mohsin in shakm-e-madar (the death of hazrat mohsin when 'agressor' entered house of Ali a.s and dropped the door on bibi fatima that fell on her abdomen and the baby died before even getting birth. Hazrat Mohsin was the brother of Imam Hussein and Imam Hasan).

It is very important to not only cry for Imam Hussein (a.s), but also to understand the reason and message behind his great sacrifice.

Karbala is the cruelest tragedy humanity has ever seen. Yet, the startling (though appalling) events in Karbala proved like a powerful volcano that shook the very foundation of Muslims, it stirred their consciousness, ignorant or learned alike. For sincere Muslims, Karbala turned into a triumph. The tragic event became the very beacon of light to always remind Muslims to practice Islam honestly and sincerely, to do what is right irrespective of consequences, and fear no one except Allah (swt).

On the other hand, Yazid never achieved what he and his father had planned to achieve, for within three years, Allah's wrath fell upon him, causing him to die at the age of 33 years. And within a few decades the rule of Benu Umayya crumbled and came to an end. The tragedy of Karbala taught humanity a lesson that standing for the truth and fighting unto death for it is more honorable and valuable than submitting to the wrongful, especially when the survival of Islam is at stake.

Shair.

The character and personality of Bibi Zainab is another beacon of light where one can see Prophet's granddaughter taking the responsibilities of khandan-e-rasool and performing them batareeq-e-ahsan after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a.s). Our million salams to that pious Bibi who conveyed the message of Imam Hussein after his death.

One can see her scarificing her two little kids for the sake and glory of Islam. She never cried for her own kids and even when the heads of martyred people were given back to khandan-e-rasool for a little while, she cried when Imam Hussein's head came there and never cried for her kids.

HIGHLIGHTS OF KARBALA:

The events of Karbala reflect the collision of the good versus the evil, the virtuous versus the wicked, the collision of Imam Husain (the head of virtue) versus Yazid (the head of impiety).

Al-Husain was a revolutionary person, a righteous man, the religious authority, the Imam of Muslim Ummah. As the representative of his grandfather Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Imam Husain's main concern was to safeguard and protect Islam and guide fellow Muslims.
On the other hand, the staying power of the rulers (Mu'awiya and his son Yazid) depended solely on the might of the sword. They used brute force to rule over the Muslim empire even by all possible illicit means.

Imam Husain as head of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) never recognized Mu'awiya nor his followers. Before him Imam Ali (a.s.) had fought battles against Mu'awiya because Mu'awiya continuously violated the Islamic principles. Imam Al-Hasan (a.s.) had to swallow the bitter pill of making a peace agreement with Mu'awiya, in order to safeguard the security of the Ummah which was at stake. When Yazid son of Mu'awiya declared himself as a ruler over the Ummah, he demanded Imam Al-Husain's (a.s.) allegiance of loyalty. Imam Husain on his part flatly rejected Yazid's rule and behavior, for there was no way Yazid could represent Islam, it would be blasphemy. But Yazid, the tyrant ruler over the Ummah, was adamant in his demand, and tension between the two parties increased day by day.

Imam Husain was quick to realize that giving allegiance of loyalty to Yazid would serve no purpose but to jeopardize the survival of Islam. To safeguard and protect Islam, therefore, the Imam had no choice but to confront and collide with Yazid's rulership irrespective of consequences. Since Yazid had ordered his commanders to seize the Imam's allegiance of loyalty at any cost, even by brutal force, the commanders had to assemble a relatively large army, surrounding Imam Husain's camp in a desert called Karbala. Then they cut off the basic necessities to the camp, including access to water. The camp consisted of Imam Husain, his family, friends, and companions, all of whom stood fast and firmly with him. These braves would rather face death for the noble cause of Islam, than submit to the outrageous tyranny and the un-Islamic ways of Yazid.

Thus, Karbala proved to be a clash involving Islamic truths versus falsehood, right versus wrong, belief versus disbelief, the oppressed versus the oppressor, faith against brute force. Karbala was about standing in the face of oppression, regardless no matter the cost. Thus, in Karbala, Al-Husain the 57 year old grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), sacrificed his totality and all he had, for one goal. This goal was to let the truth triumph over falsehood eventually, and he did that brilliantly. His goal was to foil the plan that Mu'awiya had expertly developed for his son, Yazid, which was to establish a permanent Benu Umayya rulership over the Muslim Ummah (even by sacrificing the Islamic principles), but doing it in the name of Islam.

Brilliantly, Imam Husain succeeded in foiling this plan and he exposed the disreputable nature of Benu Umayya though this was at the expense of his life.
