What does khushka mean? Heard it in some dramas ‘aaj khushka bhi banaya hai’ and read a caterers board ‘haleem, naam, biryani aur khushka order pe taayyar kia jata hai’?
Re: Khushka?
Khushkaa is boiled rice with starch drained out. it's for nafees eaters or for someone who is watching his weight. starch-less rice doesn't add extra calories.
i eat Khushka because of my diabetes.
you boiled in extra amount of water than usual. once the rice is tender, drain the excess water and then cover the pot. put the pot back on the stove on the lowest possible heat for say 2-3 minutes...jab chaawaloN kii namii door ho jaaye to stove band kar deN.
Khushka ke liye zaroorii hai k umda basmati chaawal hoN. aged basmati rice is much better.
Re: Khushka?

the extra flour they roll the chapaatii on so iut doesn't stick to the tawa is called KHUSHKI...similar sounding word though!
the dandruff in Urdu is also called** KHUSHKI**. probably, because it looks like flakes of flour.
Re: Khushka?
Isn't flour called khushka too?
Re: Khushka?

nope...see my post above yours. it's called Khushki [the aaTaa that you use to roll the chapaatii balls (loii) on so it doesn't stick to the tawa]
Re: Khushka?
Oh acha, we call it khushka in my home ![]()
Re: Khushka?
see the confusion. I was also of the view that this is something related to flour.
Re: Khushka?
lol…good. that way you ain’t confused with the other Khushki = dandruff! ![]()
