Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

Yousuf drops another bombshell but this time he may be right..

Khurram needs to improve technique - Yousuf

HOBART: Young batsman Khurram Manzoor batted for more than five hours to help save Pakistan in their third Test against Australia here at the Bellerive Oval on Monday.

Pakistan, given an improbable task to chase 438 to win the Test, went on to lose it by 231 runs but the 23-year-old Khurram earned praise from critics for the steely resolve that he put on display during a 239-ball 77.

However, his skipper **Mohammad Yousuf wasn’t impressed. Yousuf, regarded as one of Pakistan’s greatest Test batsmen, said that Khurram needs a lot of hard work to improve his technique.
**
“Khurram needs to do a lot to improve his technique,” Yousuf said after the end of the final Test. “**He is not very sound technically. The selectors need to look at how people are playing, even if he is scoring only 10, they need to see how he has scored those 10 runs. If he stays with the team then maybe he can become better but if technically he isn’t good then who knows.”
**
These were harsh words for a player, who had bounced back from a lean patch to give Pakistan some hope of salvaging a draw in the Hobart Test. Khurram had scores of 2, 6, 4 and 0 in his previous four innings and needed a big score to justify his selection in the playing eleven ahead of Faisal Iqbal at the No 3 position. After falling for a duck in his previous outing here, Khurram batted with great determination in the second innings.

Most of us knew that Manzoor has a flawed technique so yousuf is not telling something new. The question is why is he talking about it in media a day after Aussie whipped our a$$ and only person who gave some respectability to our final total was Khurram Manzoor (despite his poor technique).

I can at least say that he showed more commitment than any other player including Yousuf @ Hobart and for that deserves a pat on the back and not this $hit coming from Yousuf.

Did Yousuf offer Khurram Manzoor any valuable advice in that article? May be someone should tell Yousuf to discuss this issue with the coach, PCB and others at NCA which might be a better idea rather than downplaying someone's committment.

Seems like Yousuf has been suffering from acute verbal diarrhea and for that needs a dose of Chitrol-mycin from PCB. As I said earlier he is proving to be an equally stupid moron off the field as he is on the field.

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

I don't care what you say but education plays an important role in thinking. Yousuf may have been blessed with batting talent and he has seen the world around but his thinking is very limited. He is not articulate. A person who does not know what he is doing, saying or envisioning normally shoots from the hip. He is also very defensive and insecured due to lack of education. He starts deflecting in multiple directions and lacks depth.

He should be removed from captaincy and relieved from this stress ASAP.

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

I see Imran Farhat, Shoaib Malik, Salman Butt have very sound technique and they are improving with every inning they play in international games :rotfl:

Why was it necessary for Yousuf to even talk about Manzoor’s technique knowing that he was the only one who showed some spine in the last Test inning? Some people really don’t know when and what to talk about.

Agree with your point re. lack of education. Sadly that is the problem with most of our cricketers.

But maybe this is just cheap journalism. For starters the correspondent's name is not mentioned anywhere

Maybe this 'news' journalist asked Yousuf's opinion on Khurram's batting during an informal conversation and Yousuf then gave him an honest assessment of Khurram's technique. But the way it has been reported in the paper it is as if Yousuf's publicly blasted Khurram which is probably not the case

Jealousy? Yousuf repeatedly proclaimed himself as the only batsman in "form" and it was very embarrasing for Yousuf to see a youngster outperforming him and other "seniors" with a crappy technique and batting for four hours against Australia.

As usuall...Yousuf is proving he is a loser and has no idea what he's talking about. Manzoor scored 77 from over 200 deliveries...it was an extremely fighting innings where the rest of the team baring Aamer gifted their wickets away to the Aussies including the captain himself. Plus, on the whole tour did Yousuf play a single better innings than Manzoor? The guy played one match on the whole tour and did well where as Yousuf was a huge flop on the whole tour yet he still comes out and says his technique is bad.

Khurram Manzoor's technique may suck, but having watched him bat, I love his fighting attitude and the way he concentrates is amazing...you can tell he is giving his 100% to the team and proud to be playing for the country.

Also, there's many players around the world who have poor technique yet are proven match winners with the biggest examples being Chanderpaul and Sehwag so as long as he is doing well and fighting I really dont mind his technique at all.

And you know whats crap Mr. Yousuf? Your PATHETIC captaincy!

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

At lunch on day 5 as the umps took the bails off and Aamer walked back along with Khurram, you could see Khurram subtly kissing the Pakistan star on his sweater...he wasn't celebrating a 50 or a hundred...just the end of a session on the final day. There was no indication that the camera was focusing on him as it was end of a session. This is the kind of spirit that's needed. Yousuf is too self absorbed in seniority crap that our stale culture promotes to the tilt.

Agreed. and just for the record, I didnt even watch the 3rd test because after the 2nd test I knew what the result would be and didnt feel like wasting my time while yousuf at 35 (after playing 15 years of cricket) doesnt know how to place fielders. I hope in ODI, Afridi will challenge his field placing and give his input for more attacking thinking.

Yousuf's statement that if I did anything wrong on the field, I want the ex-captains to tell me and if I dont learn then they should criticize me but dont criticize me now cuz I have only 6 tests to show for my captaincy. That is total BS and in fact just shows that he hasnt learned anything playing test cricket throughout his life.

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

Yeah, he has bad technique,... Ijaz Ahmed used to had the best technique right??

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

yousaf has turned out to be rubbish captain

Re: Khurram has crap technique - Yousuf

Moyo is a rubbish captain and not a very decent person to publicly insult his players in public
