Why in Islam apparently a woman is allow to take divorce but she cant get it without fighting for it in front of men inside a court house or jirga. WHY? Why a man can say talak 3 times n not give a single gud reason n it’s done whereas I have to give a million good reasons in court as to why I want the divorce?
I got an arranged marriage in Pak n it didn’t work out cus he was all the things that I hated in a guy and he demanded for me to return to the UK and work my butt off just so that I shud get him a visa when we made it perfectly clear for them not to marry me out of expectation for a visa. They agreed and straight after marriage the pressure started on me to go back and call him over or we would die hungry in Pak if I didn’t.
So I left him there n have decided not to call him cus I dont wanna ruin the rest of my life. Anyway so now I’ve asked for a divorce but he won’t give me one, simply cus he’s a **** n wants me to suffer for it. After treating me lyk **** for 6 months now that ive asked for a divorce he is promising me the world. I don’t want a single dime from the guy but I have to go and face him in court now apparently.
I’d lyk to knw from the learned lot here why I have to fight so hard for my rights. Pls I dont wanna go back to Pak n stand in front of all those ppl n have to explain myself, Why shud I be forced to. I have asked the Islamic Sharia council to help me but they say if its not a forced marriage case n its not been registered here in the UK then I have no choice but to go n face him in court over there. WHY WHY WHY when islam talks of equal if not more rights for women???
Oh n also the the lawyer who has taken my case on said he can try and take the case without me being there if I sign a power of attorney letter to my dad and then they two fight for me. But that is still only a 70% chance that that will be enough, there is still a 30% chance that the courts still want me there. I dont want to go pls help.

Peace heart n soul
These days it is possible to have internet video conferences ... sending your father there with you here on conference should be a possible route if you make enquiries?
It's worth asking your lawyer that ...
Re: KHULLA!
Giving authority is wise choice. Either you authorized your dad or lawyer to act on behalf of you and sign, execute all deeds etc., then I think there is no need for your presence just get your all document attested alongwith singnature and thumb verification. Hope everything will be going fine.
Re: KHULLA!
Thank you Psyah Bhai, i will ask him that, but still want to ask why we woman have to justify ourselves and men dont. Pls dont tell me that the reason is bcus we women are hormonal and unable to make the best decisions. Men make just as many wrong and unjustifiable decisions all the time and yet they are not called in to question. Is this an issue where Islam lets us women down just a little in that it dusn’t really trust us women really does it. Does Allah think we are too dumb or maybe that we are too clever for our own good that we always need a mans approval of everything we do?? Hmmm
Also thank you FairysAngel for that bit of confidence. :)
