Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

not sure about other states

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

but they don't have anything about US release on their website... are you sure that they are not running the pirated version?

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

wow! The film has grossed £37,000+ in its first three days from just 12 screens in the UK...on its way for a £50,000-£60,000 weekly gross! Historic first for a Pakistani film!! This too with MINIMAL publicity! The per screen average was among the highest and the film debuted at #19 position.

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

Where did you get this information from?

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

I doubt it :p

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

I saw Khuda Ke Liye on Wednesday and it was excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will strongly recommend others to watch it.

The UK Films Council has released the official UK Box Office figures and Khuda Ke Liye has entered the Official UK Chart at No. 19.
This is a remarkable achievement and is already the highest ranking Pakistani film.

Khuda Ke Liye took £37,338 in only 3 days (02/NOV/2007 to 04/NOV/2007).
It has been released at 12 cinemas and the site average is £3,112.

The other Asian film at the cinema is the Indian movie 'Jab We Met', although this film has been released at 32 cinemas and has obviously generated higher gross figures but the site average is only £2,975.

Therefore, technically Khuda Ke Liye is doing stronger and better business than Indian movies.

I think we should all celebrate this achievement and thank the Director and GEO for taking the initiative in helping the revival of Pakistani Cinema.

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

hehehe true :D are you going too?

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

today i went to the cinema and peaked in to KKL screen well despite om shanti om and saawariya opening, kkl still was nearly housefull, only few front rows were empty, well shows have gone less for the film but its moved to a bigger screen.

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

How pathetic!

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

Since lot of people only look at the issue of music in the movie, so I thought I’ll highlight few other issues in the movie that I think are far important then music.

My take is that music is not the main issue raised in the movie. I think the main issue is ignorance, it is one of the most important issues concerning Pakistani people in Pakistan & US. Ignorance was shown in the form of mal-treatment of Pakistanis by the US government after 9/11 and uneducated molvis blackmailing the youth on the name of Islam.

In US they had arrested innocent Muslims, tortured them, gave them life sentences, or killed them but there is no one to speak for them. Our government is sleeping, they just don't care, they have closed their eyes or turned their faces from the reality because they are not the ones who are suffering, it is the general public who is suffering. I remember watching Nadia Khan's show on KKL and this lady called and said what Shoman has shown in the movie is reality. Her son was arrested by F.B.I. and now sentenced for the crimes he had never committed.

When Daniel Pearl was kidnapped, the entire US government and media was on Pakistan, day and night Pakistan was in the news, US government had immense pressure on our government to first find him alive and when he was announced dead to find his body and the suspects. Then what is wrong with our government, why can they never stand for the interest of Pakistani people. All they care about is themselves, if something is not effecting them then they can get away by simply ingoring the issue.

Now back home in Pakistan molvis are making masjids on illegal pieces of land and preaching Islam that is far from what Islam is. They are either blackmailing the youth on the name of Islam for their interests or conveniences or turning them away from Islam. And then there is this highly educated- ellite class who has adopted western values and life style that again our religious and cultural values. Our youth is simply being destroyed by two extremes in our society.

Music...who cares, if you don't think it is allowed, don't listen... khani khatam. Music is not taking anyone's life but ignorance is. And Shoman has shown ignorance on all fronts...US and at home.

This is the message of KKL, it is something we all should think about. Our youth is our future and if we can't save our youth today then all I see is a sky covered with black clouds.

I'm guessing they've recovered the cost and are now in profit-land?

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

Well said and Alam Online didn't perform a discuss on the core issue and started quoting some Quran Verses blaming they all false interpretations by this production staff, whereas the two sitting next to this MQM terrorists presenting their own view and opinion on how Islam has to deal with women and marriage. Pathetic.

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

it was a redicolous film.........i mean yeh i learnt few things about it and it was an eye opener at some point.....but y drag it for 3 hours.......only half n hour was worth watching from it......Mary's acting was CRAP.....wots with the stupid accent.....but i guess she did get her message across......hated the uneduacted molvi......and Mary's dad.........he DID NOT KNOW HOW O ACT.......

the first few scenes were like....'wot the.....'.....the scenes never linked into each other.......but overall the speech on Islam in the court was excellent......

i wouldnt say its a must watch...but if u have seen it...its okish...

Re: Khuda Ke Liye (threads merged)

Haven’t read all the posts, but I loved the film. Thought it was excellent, including Mary’s acting/accent. She did a good job, they all did. :k:
