Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

I think this film definitely deserves a separate thread for the box office response it receives. Here are my predictions:

Karachi: 90-100% first week capacity. Has best chances here as the film’s message will resonate well with the audience. Only opens in Prince!
Lahore: Lukewarm response, may pick with word of mouth. 70-80% opening at the two theatres where it releases.
Faisalabad/Hyderabad: 50-60% opening.
Sialkot/Gujrat/Multan/Gujranwala: I have no idea why they’re releasing the film in these cities. It’ll be a washout here. Possibly they have lots of prints and want to release them in these “safe” territories.

Interestingly the film is NOT releasing in R’Pindi/Islamabad. Possibly due to the sensitive nature of the current crisis.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

There are rumors going around that the first day's shows are all booked in advance at Karachi's Prince theatre. Can someone in Karachi confirm this?

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

i went to bought the tickets on tuesday ... till then it wasnt house full for the 1st day ..... i dont know abt current status

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

its not releasing in isl cos there isnt a cinema there, and all the ones in rwl are degraded, but it will release at the cinepax at jinnah pak when it opens.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

my pridictions for the film are

Lahore: 100% first week.
im not sure what cinemas it opens on cos on its website it only has 2 but dha cinema website has it on its schedule is well.
the film will be a smash hit and recover all its cost just from this city. i expect it at 100% for the first 3 weeks

KARACHI: 100% in first week cos it only releases in 1 cinema, i am quite disapointed at it releaseing in just 1 cinema and that to in prine, should have released in nishat and cineplex is well.

FAISLABAD/MULTAN: 70% in first week and then should stay steady for the next few weeks is well, i expect it to do very well in these citys.

HYDERABAD/GUJRANWALA/SIALKOT: 60-70% opening should be here at then stay steady for the next few weeks again i think it will do good business in the long run in these citys.

GUJRAT: 50%, very small city and only word of mouth can help it here, if people like it then it should be a big hit here is well.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

I'm intrigued - why would you think the film will do better in Karachi as oppose to Lahore?

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

no it should do alot better in lahore, thats why they are releasing it in more cinemas despite the city being half the size of karachi,

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

Thanks for your update!

Here's hoping that the film gets a 100% opening EVERYWHERE!!! Good luck Shoaib Mansoor! But I'm disappointed that Mansoor is not releasing the film in his hometown i.e Rawalpindi. It does have one excellent theater I know of, situated in the Saddar area.

A sold-out DHA cinema launch today

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/images/2007/07/20/20070720_e08.jpg

** Tickets and advanced seat booking would be available online*

LAHORE: Defence Housing Authority (DHA) auditorium, which was recently converted into a cinema hall, will officially launch today (Friday) and would play two movies, “Die Hard 4” and “Khuda Kay Liye”.

The auditorium was converted into a cinema hall to privilege DHA residents mainly. The cinema will work in collaboration with Mandviwalla Entertainment.

A DHA official said that DHA would use the cinema to hold functions whenever necessary. He said the hall where “Khuda Kay Liye” was being played, had been booked for the night show for today (Friday) by an organisation. He said there would be four shows everyday and three shows on Fridays. DHA secretary Col Aamir Ayub told Daily Times that everyone who wanted to go to the cinema would have to go through a security clearance process whether locals or foreigners.

When asked about the closing down of around 1,000 cinemas, he said even in the time of cinema-downfall, DHA had launched a new cinema and would play good movies, and the doom seen by the flopped cinemas was probably due to screening movies that were not by popular demand.

He added that the DHA cinema would only play movies that were made in good taste.

He said DHA aimed at commercialising the cinema and for this purpose, DHA had introduced ticket booking on its website, where people who wanted to buy tickets or book seats could do so online.

He said the ticket was priced at Rs 250, which was much higher than the going rate, because DHA aimed at targeting the upper class and the upper-middle class. He said the lower classes misused the cinema furniture and therefore, the cinema targeted a more sophisticated audience.

He said the sound systems installed by the cinema would also be an attraction for viewers as the Dolby System and Digital Theatre System (DTS) had been imported from the United States. He said the projector was imported from Germany.

Manager of the DHA cinema Aamir S Haider told Daily Times that the cinema had a capacity of 450 people and a restaurant was also set up in the premises. He said the cinema had great security measures, as the close circuit system (CCS) was installed and it could hold records of two months.

Usama Bin Khalil, a ticket-buyer at the cinema who was waiting in line, said that he loved watching movies because it was benign fun and very informative at the same time. Sameeta, a student of the Defence Public School, said the cinema was a great venture by the DHA and that such efforts would be very warmly welcomed as it was an addition to the very few platforms available for the young to utilise their energies in a neutral if not a positive manner.

Babar Ali, another ticket-buyer, said a cinema hall was not a place to catch up on gossip or the latest updates, but people seemed to believe so. He said movie watching was his passion and he had watch movies in many cinemas, but was not happy with people’s ethics on movie watching. He said it was very disturbing when people talked, yelled and commented aloud during a movie. He hoped the DHA authorities would make sure that no such botheration was encountered in their cinema. abdul manan

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

check your facts -- he and Rohail are both from 'Pindi.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie – box office response and predictions

Its sorta sad that the theatre is made for “elites”. And then we wonder why people are joining extremist groups is throngs.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

he is from lahore dude, come here and i will take you to his house in dha, it even said on his website that hes from lahore, so get you facts checked up.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

^^ Again, I would say check your facts. Nowhere on the website does it say where he is from. He may be living in Lahore now, but he's originally from the R'Pindi/Isb area, thats where he spotted Junaid, Rohail and Shehzad and formed the Vital signs. He used to work for PTV Islamabad at some point too.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

Yes, he's from Isl as far as I recall. May have been from Lahore originally and may have move there now, but he used to live in Isl.

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions

Stalker, today I saw ads for cineplex too. Theyre getting it aswell!

Re: Khuda Ke Lie -- box office response and predictions
