Re: khuda hafiz vs. allah hafiz vs. salaams vs. salaamualaikum
"Allah Hafiz" is a non-word Allah is arabic Hafiz is persian its use is just silly its either Khuda Hafiz of "Ma'Salama (the Arabic version of Good bye) Or you can say Salam-ale-kum for good bye. Allah Hafiz is some sort of propeganda that Pakis have started saying totally silly!
Allah is the word from Allah and khuda is creation of humans for fake gods as far as I know so I think better to use Allah Hafiz.
I dont think any version is wrong as long as your intention is right. Allah Hafiz, Khuda Hafiz, Khuda Hafiz o nasir, May God protect you, Rab Rakha .... They all are fine.
As Prophet said, "Actions are judged by motives (intentions) - Amalon ka daromadar niyat per hai - Innamal Amalo Bin Niyaat"
We get too occupied by rituals and get carried away. Islam is a code of conduct, a complete way of life not mere ritualism.
But as they say, to each their own, so do what you feel is right.

hafiz is also an arabic word ... e.g. Hafiz-ul-Quran
Re: khuda hafiz vs. allah hafiz vs. salaams vs. salaamualaikum
i say da'fiz. esp when really quick. writing mein KH/AH or salamz.. actually depends on who im talking to, i usually take their cue.. bad i know.
NO, its not strange. Khuda Hafiz sounds like Good Office if you hear it being said quickly...especially the way desies say it...swallowing half the word.
Regardless, I think people should try to say the whole word: AssalamuAlaikum and Allah Hafiz.
RH has some good suggestions too.
Haan pakay huway kanon ko sunnay main lugta ho ga.
Main nain buchpun say suna, samjha aor bola hai is liaay it sounds so funny and yet strange she is living with his husband a muslim husband for how long can you tell me please and she is still hearing it good office. Masha Allah.

At least I didn't come across to any desi who says like good office. LOL
Khuda hafiz all the way.
its used by 1-indian muslims 2-afghans 3-iranians
AH hafiz was a "shoshaa" by late Zia ul haq.
Punch you sayss Allah hafiz is a shosha those words are in quran. I wonder why you didn't write Allah Hafiz but wrote khuda hafiz.
there is no such word khuda in quran.
Who would a muslim prefer Word used for himself by Allah or created by ppl for some fake god.
What would you prefer to be called your name or name given by me? Very simple.

Re: khuda hafiz vs. allah hafiz vs. salaams vs. salaamualaikum
Arguing for the sake of arguing!
Use whatever seems good to you, its the thought that counts. There are so many versions:
Assalaamoalykum, Assalaam, Allah hafiz, fi amaan Allah, Ya Allah khair, Ma as salaama, Khuda hafiz, Rab raakha, Allah kay hawalay, Salamoona... the list goes on. Its amazing how people complicate their things, lives and esp. complicating the religion is a common hobby. Not picking on any single one of the posters, but Allah doesnt have military protocols for communication, he listens to everybody. As for what you should say to other people when meeting or parting, its a matter of personal choice.
Re: khuda hafiz vs. allah hafiz vs. salaams vs. salaamualaikum
*Khuda Hafiz *
Khuda is Persian for God / god. Hafiz is Arabic for protector. Brought over to urdu with the rest of the persian influence. Persians who are non muslim also use this salutation. Many correctionalists have pointed out this is incorrect and we should say Allah Hafiz instead. While i don't fully agree with that view, i've found myself avoiding using Khuda Hafiz (talk about peer pressure!)
**Allah Hafiz
**This is considered to be the more correct salutation but it is still made in pakistan, no connection with actual Islamic salutations. Non muslim arabs use the word Allah too to refer to God. On MSN you are often corrected by correctionalists to say "AH" instead of "ah" since you have to CAP the "A" to show respect. And if you say Ah then you just sound like you're sighing and often people can take that as the wrong kind of sighing. How sacrilegious!
Salaams
**Cooler way of saying Salaam wa alaikum. Tranlated literally as "peaces**"
**Salaamualaikum
**Incorrect pronunciation of As-Salaam Wa Alaikum. Translated means "Peace be upon you". This is the closest to a proper Islamic salutation, however it is also used by Christian and Jewish arabs. Can be used both as a greeting to meet or part, and is my preferred way of dispensing greetings and salutations.
Of note are the various ways we desis have twisted the pronunciation:
slaa malay kum
slaw lay kum
slaai kum
And as Umar Sharif puts it, Slaaaa Layyyyyy Kum!

OK ok!! english pleez for those of us who are linguistically challenged!! Esp if you are going to talk about me! :(
I have heard desis from a number of different areas saying Khuda Hafiz and invariably to my gori ears it sounded like "good office"....and when you don't speak the language, you hear all the words that are familiar to you, those words stand out yeah? So before I found out what khuda hafiz meant, I thought that perhaps it was a wish for good employment or career or something like that.
I really gotta get going with my Rosetta stone language program lol.

Heera, aap chahte hein ke mein apna dil saaf karon apki taraf se...lekin jab aap aisi insulting baatein karte hein...I have no choice.
Yeah, she is a gori and her first language is ENGLISH. So what? Islam is not only meant for desies, get your facts straight. She can speak Siamese if she wants and still be a GREAT Muslim. Just because you're DESI doesnt mean you're a good Muslim. The Qur'an did not originate in Pakistan/Bangladesh/India. Being Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Indian doesnt mean anything in front of Allah swt so please put your flag down now. Khuda Hafiz is a desi thing. And being desi wont help you get into Heaven or make your Iman pakka. (See people? We're back to the whole "ohmigosh, gore are so bad and desis have a free ticket to paradise") Heera, I wonder sometimes...if someone said "hello" to you in English...would you spontaneously combust?
You know why you irritate me so much? Ever think of WHY I get so annoyed by you? Because of this narrow-minded Paindu mentality!

LOL MO3. I know and I can understand that.
As when I first heard the song "under the sea" I heard "Unda desi" lol
I still sing it Unda desi and it makes me laugh.
As the song is All the single ladies I hear it "I'm a single ladies" when first time I got this song during my search in you tube and I thought why she is using s in ladies.
Then a rescuer of englis showed me lyrics of All the singl ladies.
Yeah it happens sometimes.
