KheeRe (Heer’s sasuraal), probably a caste near Jhang area… for which Heer said ‘Main nai jaana kheRiyaN’ de naal.
Now one of my friend from Chakwaal region, used to say ‘Peshaweri Sandals’ as ‘KheRiyaN’… some people say its ‘KhaRaa’ooN’.
Can anyone differentiate?
Is their a link between kheeRe and khaRaoo’N?
Re: KheeRe aur kheRiyaaN
actually KhaiRRaa means Gaoon/village… and as u said abt the area near jhang… but also we use to call Spring Season as KhaiRRaa…
KhaiRR/KhaiRRi is Peshawari Chappal/sandal…
khaRaoun is a sandal made to wood or very hard and stiff Low quality leather.. also well known as khaRaNwaaN
Re: KheeRe aur kheRiyaaN
^ also khaRRaNwaaN/Clog is abandoned in our culture now…
I heard abt the news that Dutchs have revived this category of shoes again…

Spring is called KhaiRaa? Is it something related to harvesting / cultivation?

cultivation is also called ‘khaiRan’ in Sindhi.
There was this famous slogan during Haari movement lead by Sufi Inayat of Jhok Sharif :
Jo KheRey, So Hee Khaey” was translated into Punjabi (“Jhera Vaahvey, Ohi Khaavey”)
