Does it matter how the word is spelled, as long as you can read and know what it means? … Actually, Khwarij is Arabic word and one can spell that whatever way one likes, as long as people who would read would know what it means. 
As for what Zaid Hamid wrote … Seek protection of Allah from Shaitan when you read this … that is true too, as most who become Khwarij think they are becoming pious Muslim without realising that they are becoming ‘dogs of hell’ … so to safe oneself from this Shaitanic fitna, one should seek protection of Allah.
