Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

so I searched teh supermarket up and down and they didnt have the lemon curd or any curd to be exact... where do I find it? I got the rest of ingredients and need to make it tonight.

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

How many curry patta leaves do you put for 2 lbs meat? I bought the chicken 65 mix and it says 50 to 60 leaves. Is that too much?

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

50 to 60?!?!? :hayaa:

nooo…more like 5-8 depending on the size!

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

50-60  please think twice about quantities of the rest of the ingredients mentioned on this box

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

so I made the trifle... I ran out of the whip cream and lemon curd mix for the final topping..so it really doesnt look good.. I wish I knew the quantities before I started to do the layers :(

I need to pick up whip cream on my way home to do the final layer but I am sure it will not look even half as good as yours :(

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Gtg...Where did you get the lemon curd...??..I might give it a try for an upcoming dinner party.

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

I got it from trader joes..do you have one there?

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

I can find Lemon Curd at Walmart..it’s in the jelly/jam aisle…this is the exact brand/jar that I use:

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

How much cream did you whip up? And did you use an actual trifle dish or something else?

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Gtg & Khatti...Thanks.
Pardon my ignorance, but I was thinking it might be something in the dairy isle, with yogurts and cheeses etc...:D
I have seen this brand at the local grocery store and am sure will be able tp find it.Otherwise,I do have a Trader Joe's too and can check it there...:)

Thank u for posting pic. I thought it was a yogurt type curd. I would have been searching the dairy aisle. I have to try this one. Could I substitute entertmans pound cake for Sara lee pond cake.

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

^ yes! any brand pound cake will do

Re: Khatti’s Kitchen Korner

Khatiiii Thank you sooo much :flower1: the trifle was a HIT!!! it didnt look great so I didnt take the picture but it tasted awfully good.. everyone wants me to make it again

I also added the cream that I had brought from Pakistan to the final layer and the taste of “balai” just made it even better!!lemon curd added the flavor that everyone absolutely loved it!

I checked the jams and jellies at walmart but didnt find it.. but let me tell you we only have like 3 aisles of grocery in our walmart so there isnt much tehre anyway :cb:

so what do I make next

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

Gtg...Did you make your own whipped cream..??

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

gtg, which cream/ balai u got from pakistan?

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

chipsy no I got the cool whip topping from Stop and Shop! you probably want 2 of those!

same.. I got Nestle Milkpak and Haleeb cream!!!

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

oh so it was ok to bring cream from pak. no problem from custom
it didnt go bad.

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

^did u whip the cream or just pour it for cream layer.

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

same.. hmm didnt think of that.. I had couple of packs in my suitcases and that's all.. you can find the nestle cream in desi stores as well and it doesnt need to be refrigerated unless opened!

I just just mixed it with a lil bit with sugar and added in the whipped cream/lemon curd top layer..I dont have leftovers so I may make it again soon.. it was quick!!

I used a pack of frozen berries and also added in some fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries to make the juice!

Re: Khatti's Kitchen Korner

thanks gtg
sounds delicious
