Yesterday was the night of 29th roza and we finished Quran at our Mosque. Then we had a fundraising and we raised $ 208,000, which is pretty good. It ended at 1 a.m. Here’s what I wasn’t happy with:
Fundraising could’ve been ended sooner if the dude didn’t crack so many jokes
If he started with reasonable amounts, rather than “who can donate 25 thousand dollars” and spend half an hour on it to find out no one is gonna donate it, so lower the amount.
After sitting for about 4 hours, my butt was tired. We prayed the dua while sitting and my legs were hurting. I ended up paying more attention to my pain than to dua. Someone suggested we should stand up but some smartass declined
A lot of people around me were crying really loud but I couldn’t because I guess I don’t understand arabic. It was frustrating to see so many people crying because obviously there must be something important/scary being said and alas I don’t understand it.
Don't get me wrong. I would go for the benefit if the pain was due to so much praying. I never complained when I prayed 20 taraveehs but this pain was due to fundraising and like I said, he could've wrapped it up sooner than what it took him if he didn't crack so many jokes and did what he promised.
Everytime he would say something like this: Ok, we need 3 people to donate 10,000 each. Lets see who those people are. After half an hour, 2 people would donate 10K and he would be like, just one more and then we can move to next range. Right after the 3rd one donated, he said "Subhanallah, mashallah, takbeer, lets go for the 4th one mashallah"..........I mean WTH! you said 3, stick to that, why are you going to the 4th person to waste another 15 to find out there's NO 4th.
Yes. I was talking to my mom about it and I realized it myself that if they just handed the cards to fill out for pledges, no one would’ve donated 15000 at once. People would only donate 20 bucks.
Were any gupshup ladies there last night? I saw a lot of cute chicks as I was standing at the entrance of ladies (waiting for my mom)
