Khatami Says Iran Mines Uranium for Nuclear Plant

He’s for real, I tell you.

Iran Discovers Uranium Reserves

Iran said Sunday it discovered uranium reserves and was setting up production facilities for the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

President Mohammad Khatami said Iran was “determined to make use of advanced nuclear technology for peaceful purposes” after announcing that researchers discovered uranium reserves in central Iran near Yazd and established production facilities in nearby Isfahan and Kashan.

Khatami’s comments were carried by the official Islamic Republic News Agency, which provided no further details.

Iran, which President Bush said was part of an “axis of evil” with Iraq and North Korea, has invited U.N. atomic inspectors to visit two Iranian nuclear plants in central Iran that Washington says are part of a secret weapons program.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammed ElBaradei, and his inspection team are scheduled to arrive in Iran on Feb. 25 to visit nuclear facilities at Natanz and Arak.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammed ElBaradei, and his inspection team are scheduled to arrive in Iran on Feb. 25 to visit nuclear facilities at Natanz and Arak.

“We assure the world that the Islamic Republic of Iran is making use of all domestic facilities to acquire peaceful nuclear technology and considers this its right to do so,” Khatami said.

America has long been suspicious of Iran’s nuclear program, accusing it of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and of sponsoring terrorism. Iran rejects those charges.

In December, U.S. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said satellite imagery indicated structures at the Natanz plant were being covered with earth, indicating Tehran is building **“a secret underground site where it could produce fissile material.” **

**U.S. officials say Iran’s lack of fissile material — either enriched uranium or plutonium — remains a key stumbling block for its goals of either producing or acquiring nuclear weapons. **

This is unfortunately development but not a surprise. Israel will be forced to take action against Iran in order for their survival. Iran sits atop vast oil reserves and has no need for nuclear plants other than to create WMD.

The days of Israel taking action are gone... Its more like US will do the jewish bidding the kind with Iraq. but even then I have my doubts coz when Iran comes out in the open it will be too late just like it is with little Kim of N. Korea..... Terrorist must be dettered from aggression at all cost.. I say hats off to little Kim for maintaining the peace.

^ Oh the poor Israelis...I am sure they must be ripping themselves to shreds for taking this "difficult decision". Have they (very solemnly and with a heavy heart of course) informed you about how many souls would probably constitute the "collateral damage" (or is it homicide victims/ unlawful innocents or other term) that you might have to end up defending here?

The question is for you UTD.

Whenever the Zionist entityhas dared taken on any forces backed by Iran i.e. Hezbollah, it has resulted in a bloody nose for them. In fact the same goes for the US when it has dared take any military or covert action against Iran. But you can keep on dreaming.

In the meantime go and dare take out North Korea's nuke capability...:)

Iran supports Hizballah, they may have the urge to pass a nuclear weapon off to them and we can't have that. collateral damage would be slight as it was in 1982 after Israel bombed Iraq's Osirak reactor.

May God grant the Iranian people a stable and progressive government that is not full of fundamentalist idiots that will use nukes to blackmail the rest of the world. And hopefully they will not be as irresponsible with the proliferation of nukes as has the other Muslim country with WMD capabilities.

Trust me you don't have a choice either if you know the meaning of suicide.

Not long ago I predicted poliferation of WMD, I said Iran is the next lucky candidate... guess what! I was wrong Iran is second first was NK.

Good on them. :k:

Israel twice elected a Prime Minister whose hands were bloodied with the killings of thousands of Palestinians at Sabra and Shatila. That will never be forgotten…however much you sing the praises of Sharon.

Malik you support terror, I’m disappointed.

Iran is a country going through a rough period, we can hope the situation can end peacefully. Perhapes India can talk to them as they are increasing their ties with them…Iran calls for joint anti-terrorism campaign with India. ( http://www.irna.com/en/head/030210192934.ehe.shtml )

Abdali, brilliant prediction on the poliferation of WMD, who saw that coming?

I did support the IDF leaving Lebanon, there are actions by the IDF that I don't support though.

Don't worry seminole, these leaders are not acting like loose cannon balls, unlike someone i can mention(first Afganistan, and then Iraq). These people have relative control. It is the loose cannon heads at the white house we should be worried about. Don't you think?

These "loose cannons" have spent the past 100 years protecting the world from totalinarism, nazism, fascism, Japanese Imperialism, communism and now religous extremism. You can't compare this to an unstable theocratic republic ruled by ignorant intolerant mullahs who haven't done a thing to protect the world from anything.

You ain't seen notin yet... but relax if you are not a terrorist you have nothing to worry about....

So they did some good things in the past. What, does that justify everything they do now? I think not. Loose cannons are dangerous, someone needs to reign them in.

As for 'ignorant, intolerant Mullahs', it could be a case of the Pot calling Kettle black. Especially after 9/11. These Mullahs have invited inspectors in to thier country, it seems they've nothing to hide. White House needs to get its priorities right and start with N. Korea for example, which has out and out threatened the US.

Lets just say, To each his own.

Ah, so there is hope for the Muslims of India, from the clutches of RSS/VHP/BJP nexus :hehe:
