I was watching the documentary “Drugs Inc. - Designer Drugs” and there was a short clip in it on the khat chewing culture in Asia and Middle East. Khat is a plant with mild narcotic effects similar to amphetamine. Almost the entire adult population in countries like Israel and Yemen is addicted to khat chewing. Apparently, everyone is high by the afternoon every single day. Here is a picture of some Yemen soldiers chewing khat while at work… seriously?!
You don’t really get “stoned” from it, it’s supposed to be a “mild high” … whatever that’s supposed to mean lol. I guess if the soldiers are taking it at work, it obviously doesn’t impair performance or it would be banned at least for the army.
The documentary is on youtube:
lol I’m pretty sure you could easily get some online… and its perfectly legal!
That’s what I mean. How can they go around saying it’s allowed in Islam and it’s like alcohol for muslims and you can go to prayers while chewing khat???
It's not legal in the US and not in Europe either. Not even the Netherlands allow it. LOL
I wonder why it still isn't illegal in the UK. 10 tonnes of khat are imported in Britain every week. :O ... which of course then makes its way to the US/European black markets.

Why should it be illegal? A lot of drugs shouldn't be illegal if we are considering harmful effects to the user and society as a result of using them.
Well in the US it’s illegal because it contains cathinone, a controlled substance.
Mephedrone was also made illegal in the UK in 2010. The ban is debatable though… apparently, mephedrone usage has increased since its ban. Mephedrone more popular since being banned
