Anyone here from Kharian? Can you please, tell me more about this town?
I could appreciate very much if you could post pictures as well. Is it an important town?

kharian was famous for kitchen utensils like knives, spoons, etc back in my days. i know this because everytime my train (taiz gaam) made a stopover at kharian, i ended up buying a handful.

You sure it was kharian where u bought the kitchen utensils ? If I am not wrong its Wazirabad. Kharian might over some clay pottery but not knives or spoons.
Kharian is not an important town to visit, its small & to approach khariaan from Lahore or Islambad you need to travel through GT that I wont recommend in the present age. The only importance of KHariaan is that u can go to Rohtaas Fort from Kharian. So only those tourists who go to Rohtaas fort need to go khariaan (you can approach Rohtaas from other town too e.g lalamoosa or Jehlum).
Rohtaas Fort is pretty big place and I wont recommend going to Rohtaas without a local person (I mean some pakistani because I doubt u would find many English speaking person there). Rohtaas actually came in mind only because I am planning to visit this place now a days, but best time to visit Rohtaas is late February or March so my plan is in doubt.
There is nothing else coming in my mind so far, though I have visited Kharian few times because my cousin used to have some business running there few years back.

I go there every year. I got cuzins there. Its a pretty fun place, especially if you go to the cantt area, cuz it has a lot of ppl who are actually living outside paki. I don't really go there for shopping and stuff, just visit my cuzins, go around. If you have someone in the army, you can enjoy all the places like the pool, party halls, and a lot of other stuff. This is mainly in cantt, if you will be goin somewhere outside cantt, do tell me where, since maybe I've been to tht place, cuz I go around a lot over there since I dun have much to do whenever I go :D

Yea, its not really important for visiting, unless you have cousins or some kind of business there, even though it does have one of the largest military bases in pakistan or asia, sumthin like that. However, I travel between Lahore and Kharian through GT, and its a lot improved now, if you got a driver to take you, then its all good, and if you're driving yourself, the road has been renovated a lot, traveled on it last summer, they have really improved it, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I dont know why kharian has stuck to my head for so long. Could it be that they had some excellent resturants (kabana maybe) connecting to the GT road? It had to do something with food!!

Kharian is fairly dull, except as someone mentioned on GT road...there's that one Gas Station stopover for Tea/Drinks which is pretty cool. I like how they have a mini park and tables at a CNG gas station. Brings back memories of our stopovers between Lahore & Pindi.
