I stand corrected, a few months ago I was wondering if Khan was the real deal. In todays matchup, he showed he is. Barrera may nto be what he once was, but he has some record and the experts were doubtful if Khan has enough to take him on, but he did.
Khan maybe overhyped but it is good to see a young Muslim seen in a positive light and he is a role model to many- regardless of ethnicity, race, background etc.
Yesterday was a good day, sports wise. First Liverpool win Man U and then Khan beat the legandary Barrera.
btw punching monk is a bit out of boxing these days
lolzzzz
Ghamy-y-rozgar brother. Thanks for the news I thought amir was done after his last match.
Khan is over-hyped and over-rated similar to Naseem Hamed (who was far far boxer than Khan).
Barrera was World champion at the age
of 22 and in his prime Khan wouldn't have no chance what so ever.
Joe Calagazghe was another British boxer who didn't fight the legendry Roy Jones Jr in his prime and only beat him when he was way past his best.
Naseem was amazing talent. No question about that. If he would have taken him self seriously he would be still kicking butt.
Only common thing which scares me about both was/is the need to condition them self better. Amir need stronger chin If he wants to take on sluggish Mexican And extremely athlatic blacak boxers.
I also know that his team would be well aware of that.
I haven't seen tht whole fight but he manage to win it based on his superior athalic ablity and without taking any serious punches. Then he could be in trouble again as he was in his last lost.
It does not matter, Amir need to consentrate his abilties to box. Those bits a pieces make a boxer over the time. It does not matter who sports writer see him
PlayStaion::But what the hell, I am so proud of him.
Amir Khan… i have met him on so many occasions, and the poor guy can’t even string a sentence together… too many knocks to the head i guess… on one hand i think yes it’s good to see a young muslim representing in a positive light, and also in a popular western sport…but also on the other hand is he a good role model for kids?? Do we need a whole generation of young wannabe boxers who misplace this discipline and channel it into something all the more dangerous…
And Naseem Hamed…or Ahmed as he called himself once … chi chi.
