Khamaj is one of the many "Thaat
The ten thaats are Bilawal, Kalyan, Khamaj, Bhairav, Poorvi, Marwa, Kafi, Asavari, Bhairavi and Todi
This is clasical indian music. Thaat is one step above the Raga.
That’s what Adnan Sami khan told in a Ptv’s music programe(10~11 years old). I always thought that clasical music was very difficult, but when i saw that programe recently(re-telecast) where he teaches music to kids in such a simple way that It looks very easy and pleasent.

Thaat
North Indian classical music in the twentieth century, each one of the several traditional ragas is based on, or is a variation of, ten basic thaats, or musical scales or frameworks.if one were to pick a raga at random, it should be possible to find that it is based on one or the other of these thaats. For instance, the ragas Shri and Puriya Dhanashri are based on the Poorvi thaat, Malkosh on the Bhairavi, and Darbari Kanada on the Asvari thaat
**Khamaj **
Raga Khamaj belongs to Khamaj Thaat. It is rendered in the late evening and uses all seven notes, six in the ascent and seven in the descent. It uses both komal (flat) and shuddha (full) Nishad, and all other notes are shuddha (full). The derivative ragas out of this structure are grouped under the broad head of Khamaj Thaat.

It is quite simple if you see that programe. Even little children find it interesting and easy.
He shows you by playing the six notes in the ascent and seven in the descent on different instruments.
He is very young (and less bulky 
) in that programe.

Dude, you never saw DD in England. The way Zara Sheikh's make up and hairstyle is in the video, she resembles DD. :p I'm not talking about her regular shots.
