Kiyun maine aapki bhens ko anda maara tha? :snooty:

Re: Khalistan Movement

Akali Dal is the ruling party of punjab:), it is still ruling, apart from JanSangh it was the other party which wasn’t part of Congress:)

I find it as rumour:), personally, I don’t believe it:)

Khalistan isn’t mystery, it was problem effectively solved by Major General (later lt gen) Kuldeep singh Brar and Indian Police Officer KPS Gill:). KPS Gill even gave a solid method of ending kashmir insurgency even:)

Re: Khalistan Movement

So what was the problem between Akali and Indra? Was the Khalistan Movement only a political tussle between two parties like we have PPP Vs PML(N)?

PS: Google is the biggest rumor maker. :rotfl:

Re: Khalistan Movement

:emmy: yeh google se puran rumor hai…

Re: Khalistan Movement

But I don’t believe that Ashwaria is the relative of Indra :snooty:

Re: Khalistan Movement

Initially Khalistan was idea of Jagjeet Singh Chauhan, after talks with Indira he went to London to raise the money of Khalistan council and made declaration of Khalistan, his deputy did same in Amritsar and released stamps and currency, when Indira didn’t take action Akalis alleged it is ploy of Indira to use Chauhan as she would dislodge akalis with chauhan and later merge him in party. With the entry of Sant Jaranail Singh Bhidranwala the movement turn violent and secessionist, terrorist occupied the golden temple complex and to relieve it from the grip of terrorist Indian Army under operational command of Maj Gen Kuldeep Singh Brar killed the secessionist along with their leader, in this operation, golden temple was severely damaged.

Re: Khalistan Movement

naheen wadaira jee aap mujh ghareeb kay bhains khool kar lay gaiay thay :bummer:

Re: Khalistan Movement

Now thats a complex political turf and involves various parties (allies). What was the overall impact of this movement on Sikh community? When Golden temple operation was done to get it free from the terrorists, why people like Khushwant Singh agitated and returned Government awards? Did the movement get support from nationalists?

Re: Khalistan Movement

Ghareeb aur bhens… kia ye khulla tazaad nahin meda sain :hmmm:

Re: Khalistan Movement

When Bhidranwala became the commander of the forces and was holding temple premises along with hostages, many had thought that Khalistan would become reality, Amritsar is border district, Indian Army was expecting Pakistani Army can come for support similar to what Indian Army did to support Bengalis in east pakistan.
Amritsar was cut-off from the entire world, Army cleared the golden temple. Initially next general designated Gen Sinha refused to order Indian Army to enter the premises, Indira dismissed him and Gen AS Vaidya ordered Lt Gen K Sunderjee commander of Western Army command, he ordered Major General KS Brar based in meerut to clear it of. the attack on golden temple infuriated Sikh community, many of the army officers resigned along with many civilians who returned their honors. Later Sikh bodygaurd of Indira assassinated her culminating in 1984 november Anti-Sikh riot in Delhi. then Indian army along with intelligence agencies launched operation Woodrose, to clean up remaining terrorist and most instrumental was IPS officer KPS Gill and Punjab CM Beant Singh, in 1995 he was assassinated by KLF. Those ten years were darkest for sikh community as their reliability and loyality to India was questioned by the society. Infact PVN Rao fought in Assam,Nagaland,Kashmir and Punjab along with facing economic downturn then:), It took another decade for Sikhs to restore the lost glory. In India, Khalistan hardly has any credible support. Lt Gen Brar once said to me, " Sikhs would have got Khalistan but they joined wrong country in 1947:D

Re: Khalistan Movement

Whats the current status of movement? completely dead?

Re: Khalistan Movement

It has support in Sikh diaspora in Canada and UK, but no formidable support in India. The original idea of nehru, socialist, secular, democratic, republic of India gives chance to everyone in india to rise:) irrespective of any religious or social affiliation:k:
With rise of prosperity in punjab and post like PM, Planning Commission head, General of Indian Army etc make it even more insignificant. For example, Next president of India, by the end of july, is likely to be muslim. Atheist defense minister, Next genral designate is sikh, IAF cheif is christian and Naval chief is Hindu. I would further say Hindus are losing representation of armed branch:D

Re: Khalistan Movement

:hinna: Pakistan is trapped in MMA (Mullah Military Alliance)

Re: Khalistan Movement

The aim of rise of india is similar to Gandhian movement, it is to change the thought of living, Gandhi's non violence changed the world. The rise of India is to prove to the world that multiculturalism is not a failure:), US is the best example of multiculturalism in domestic society. Presently I think people of north east are in focus and are progressing fast. The only community that is below par is Sunnis. Shias are better than average and Ahemadis are already very much ahead:)

Re: Khalistan Movement

Narrow interpretation of religion makes religion a burden on society. Thats what is being reflected in our societies.

After Golden Temple event, how is the overall image of Congress in Sikh Community?

Re: Khalistan Movement

I think sikhism is only religion with so much population and still without a nation....canada me kuch sedition ho to baaat bane...:D

Re: Khalistan Movement

No kurd area is divided between syria, iraq, turkey and may be iran.....

BTW Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi (RA) was a kurd him self............

I read one article where they drew parallels between Salahuddin(RA) and Qaid-e-azam
