apart from the facts mentioned above - the generation which was involved in separatism in the 80s has grown old and probably weary. The new generation does not care. there is a different problem which plagues the youth - drug menace

The other point that people seem to miss that the scale on which muslims supported idea of Pakistan, Sikhs never supported it to that level. Operational head of Bluestar was Sikh and so was the KPS Gill who uprooted the insurgency. And a fringe violence of killing 5-6 people here and there will never lead to any liberation whatsoever.
