It's time our enemies (India's Government and Military) realize that the more trouble they create in our country..the more deeper their foot in the hole would be. I grew up hearing about Khalistan and how sikhs were attacked in 1980s unjustly. Should our intelligence agency support this movement..that is for ISI to decide as part of their counter measures.

^ since Modi took over, he brought Ajit Doval in to create problems for Pakistan especially in balochistan. I think Pakistan is replying in the same language. I hope sense prevails on both sides.

I think election of Modi and rise of hindutva has not helped things either. As far as I can see through my interaction with Indian minorities they have started to feel marginalised.

You can not blame the Punjabi population of India if they feel like second class citizens............some of the older Punjabis living here in US still remember the gruesome attack on the Holy Temple!
I know some of them when they travel to India they make it a point not to fly the state airline Air India!

You mean Sikhs.
Overall, Punjabis are put on a pedestal. Bollywood hero (charcters in film) are all Kapoors or Guptas or Malhotras or Khannas - all Punjabi Hindus.
Punjabi Sikhs are also portrayed positively for the most part. And occupy top positions in the armed forces - a legacy of the British rewarding them for the 1857 assistance.
So things aren't so black and white.

It helps to widen your circle of people that you know. Khalistan is long forgotten !!!

What is to explain. What happened was shameful. A good friend lost his father. And we cried. For his loss. Still think of him and the pain he felt.
Doesn't mean Sikhs are being treated badly today. Which is what was being implied in one of the earlier posts.

Indian army will see to it that it doesnt happen. India unfortunately isnt the UK or Canada. No referendum, just the bullet.

It is just nothing more than some Canadian Sikhs's dream. 1984 was the opportunity and Sikhs missed it badly and there is no central figure like Bhidranwale.
Plus, there is no need to have seprate country and all, with PM post to planning post to Army chief, most of the time Sikhs are over-represented.
It is an opportunity long gone. If Pakistan had supported it like Indians did in Bangladesh it could have happened
Now possibility of happening such is near impossible by 2020.
