the claim of this PAF pilot that he shot down 2 MiG-23MLD is that verified from independent sources ? or is it just a boast ?
any parts of those mig-23s that were recovered as a proof ? and are they on display anywhere like the su-22 parts on display?

I think it's the claim of downing Afghan Air Force Mig-23s during the Soviet occupation.

^ yes it was 1988 I think the migs are of VVS of the soviet union .....the american "experts" say they agree with mahmood's claim but they were not a nonpartisan source ....I havent seen any pics of the wrecks like we displayed the sukhoi fitters

From the articles i've read.....I believe those Migs your talking about were a part of sortie of 6 who where chase down by F-16s while they were trying to escape from pakistani air space....and were finally shot down well inside Afghan border thats why no wreckage was retrieved .The pilot who was the leader of that sortie verified that they lost two migs that day.
Now SU-22 was shot down inside pak territory thast why we have its tail as a war trophy.

^ well tom cooper's website says that one of the floggers was retrived by pak-us team , soviets never said that they lost the floggers to f-16s either, a loss can be from multiple reasons .....by the same logic we lost a f-16 too fighting against the soviets and we said it was friendly fire ......
masood boasted that he could have shot down all 6 if he hadnt been called bt GC to disengage !! ...thats what makes me suspicious about the whole event

*Let me find the interview of that soviet pilot....who recalls that incident in which he saw that ball of fire( f-16).....its a very interesting interview.
Later the investigation proved that it was shot down by an AIM 9 Sidewinder missile fired from another pakistani F-16.

Friendly fire could have come from the ground.
There have been several "friendly fire" issues in NATO, US forces.
Let me give you another example. During the height of confrontation between our **brotherly countries, **several Indian soldiers died in the "indian" minefields that were put in place to "protect the very Indian soldiers".
And Indian pilots have such a horrible record on certain Migs that they don't even need a ruse of "friendly fire".
So don't get over excited by this friendly fire thingy and start this jackacy statements about American programming our planes da da da da.

the fate of our pilot who was shot down by another of our f-16 wasnt bright enough as he ejected safely but 5 years from that date...he lost another f-16 while taking off from sargodha air field...as it was hit by a wild bore right before take off......
Both times not his fault but records shows he lost two f-16s. poor guy
