Afghani author of both “The Kite Runner” and more recently “A Thousand Splendid Suns”
I read both books and I have to say, this man has a real gift for writing. The stories are so beautifully put together. I find it amazing that he is a physician and active envoy for UNHCR (UN refugee agency) … pretty accomplished person.
The Kite Runner made me cry like no other book has, it was deeply saddening and tragic but one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. It is a riveting tale of love, honor, guilt, fear, and redemption. A must read
A Thousand Splendid Suns was equaling moving, although didn’t make me cry. This story, as opposed to The Kite Runner is predominantly about women. For one thing, it made me deeply thankful for everything I have. It reveals how much women have to endure and compromise. The sacrifices of love, marriage, and motherhood. It really shows how there are millions of people who suffer.. who go through and enormous amount of pain and torture… yet they still go on.
anyway, both of these are beautiful books… well worth reading.
