This was something interesting I came across while reading Khushwant Singh’s memories about his village in Pakistani Punjab. They refer a well containing sweet water as Mithi Khoi (female) and a well containing brackish water as Khara Khooh (male).
I also heard that English people refer all their favorite things or the objects they consider important as ‘she/her’.

That's interesting. I've always heard women are like nadi and men are like saagar/samundar. It makes me wonder nadi samundar main shaamil hoke apna wajood kho deti hai, samundar ko kya farq para?
