i dont do anything for thanksgiving or halloween or diwali as its not part of my religion.

Re: khaana tunna fest is coming

But there's no harm in taking part in the celebration of others. Thanksgiving is not so much a religious celebration..its about giving thanks... each culture and religion im sure cna be thankful about SOMETHING

Re: khaana tunna fest is coming

Sabriya,
what is sad and hypocrisy ridden is that people limit themselves from being open minded and true Muslims, they will hide food, waste food or not at all celebrate their own holidays and prejudge other faith or culture's holidays as bad. thanks Giving is good, no one forces anyone to celebrate a meal holiday that the country in which you live, has to offer as an opportunity to teach about your own culture and also learn about an other culture, but no, first people need to find infestation or create infested resentment against things or events or people, they have not even experienced yet.
strange preferences based on 'holier than thou!', or 'its not mine'
sort of attitudes, unfortunately limit people in their ability to influence others, with own faith's and culture's good things, which, people could easily be sharing in a two way stream.
i have known people who would indicate all the dislike in the world for a certain group, but for own benefit, also have a friend from the same group.
seeing another Muslim do so, think like that, is even more disheartening.
such thinking confirms their lop sided generalizations and bigoted selectivity all combined together. but, that is their problem.
it is true that we must pray and thanks Allah swt.
but, Almight does not stop us from sharing food with other people on festive occasions. then why do people say, 'oh but we have no friends in a foreign country.'
i wish people saw past their self righteousness.
also, keeping the hungry in mind, is essentially the main purpose of any feeding holiday so we should all take part in that and be humble in doing so.

in any event, great that you are doing well and your birthday will come soon and is on Thanks Giving.

best,
Dushwari
