Kenyan leg-spinner Collins Obuya has signed as one of Warwickshire’s overseas players.
The 21-year-old is likely to play his first game against Cardiff University on May 14 and will be available throughout the season, subject to international duty.
The Nairobi-born player burst onto the international scene during Kenya’s successful World Cup campaign when they reached the Super Six stage.
He took 13 wickets at an average of 28.76 in his nine games during the tournament, including five for 24 against Sri Lanka at Nairobi.
Warwickshire captain Michael Powell told the county’s website: "The players are very excited about Collins’ introduction to the squad.
“He was impressive in the World Cup and is proving to be an exciting prospect. His bowling should add an extra dimension to our attack and we have also been struck by his athleticism in the field.”
Obuya said: "This is a thrilling time for me to be playing for such a famous club.
“I am looking forward to it and hope that I can produce the form and success that I managed during the World Cup in Africa.”
